SOC is erasing the DVT era of the show it seems. And he is not a media whore either.

I realise DTC made many mistakes, and some stuff was awful but this thing with erasing the previous EP's work isn't always the best decision, the best thing SOC has done up until now is concentrate on the writing and characterisations, something DTC was poor at, but his overly hasty decision to axe people that really started to stand out when the writing improved was harsh and plain wrong in my opinion, Pam and Les should have stayed, just because they had no more children or grandchildren doesn't mean they had to go, they could easily have stood on their own particularly being in the business they were. I think it was a massive error of judgement, how can we get long standing/ potentially legacy characters if EP's insist on axing the previous producers work?

It is strange that SOC gets EastEnders and can see what Julia and Tony started with the show so much more than DTC ever did. I sometimes think DTC was on something while doing this show, only slightly less unhinged than Kirkwood on Oaks.
A long way to go with SOC but the signs are good so far. I agree with C&EF, it is a big bonus that SOC is not a slave to social media, as far as I can tell he doesn't give a fig what others think.
I do agree Aaron, there probably was no need to axe so many characters.

Should have axed Jane. The most boring character ever in EastEnders.

He had some great ideas but the execution of these ideas was appalling. He he wasn't the worse EP, but what annoys me was that he could have been so much more. He was a fan of the program and should have known better. I do think Alex Lamb is to blame too, I hope the rumours he has left are true.

I know a fully grown man who lives his life in exactly the same way. Full of bravado for new ventures/ideas and then when they are up and running and working well he gets bored and moves on to something else. Completely exasperating!

DVT said he was going to have big plans for EE and go back to the Tony and Julia style and make it feel like East London again, and Shoreditch up Turpin Road. He did the total opposite, he ruined the Mitchell backhistory, bought characters back from the dead and made Den's "Princess" phrase Gavin's in origin and Gavin told Den to call her that.
Tony and Julia were so opposed to the scene of Den falling into the canal in 1989 being cut that they left the show. So DVT went in the total opposite way to what Tony and Julia did, which he said he was to recreate.
DVT used to work on Midsomer Murders. Walford felt like that during his era. As many killings.

Everyone on DS thought DTC was a Messiah. Sorry CAEF but that simply isn't true, there was always criticism of DTC on DS, in fact DS is always highly critical of Producers

I read about this Holey. Head of Continuing Dramas? Interesting but I could do that job for half the salary I'm sure he's getting.

It's good that the BBC are stepping in to provide some much needed oversight of Eastenders. Kirkwood, Newman, Incompetent DTC, and SOC have all been disasters in their own way.

When SOC leaves EE he should come to Emmerdale.
