I was against the return until I saw Kathy during live week. It felt amazing to see her. My issue is she is a salt of the Earth character. She came out of that cab looking younger then she did when she left (I am not knocking her but she has had loads of work done) looking very American Soap actress, trendy expensive clothes (Kathy was not trendy that was the point, she was pretty despite being dowdy not making much of herself Peggy used to knock her for it), and begging Phil to ALLOW him to see her own kids? None of this was Kathy. Only thing that didn't change was the acting....still pretty poor. I liked the character but this isn't Kathy. Hopefully it will get better.

I see where you're coming from Ap but even in her frumpy clothes she always looked youthful and attractive. Plus a few years away from Walford takes years off a person. I think her return will be EE'S story of the year.

And she may have developed a fashion sense while she is away.
It's a gimmick, it's uncredible and it will no doubt go tits up. But it's still the most interesting thing to happen in a long time.

This. It won't be everyone cup of tea, no doubt but still the most exciting thing to look forward to on EE atm. As for her upgrading, nine years long time not everyone stays the same and style changes, it be interesting to see if they keep the classy look. Just seeing Ian and Kathy reunion will be worth it.

No doubt DTC will have Kathy involved with the Carters.

I can see it now, we get one scene of Ian and Ben arguing the toss when Kathy walks in... "Mum?! " *duff duff duff...* Next episode will open with Mick clattering around the pub, threatening Nancy not to tell Linda about Kathy, and then he'll go over the B&B to rant at Shirley for not telling him about Kathy being back. We'd see Kathy slinking into Ian's house in the distant background of one shot, before cutting to Nancy having an epileptic fit over the stress of Kathy being back. Babe would be cradling Nancy in her arms, yelling out "someone get Kathy, she'll know what to do!", not realising that Linda heard the whole thing. In the closing moments of the episode, Linda would confront Dean: "Yes Dean, how does it feel knowing that Kathy is back?", but not before Mick bursts in and convinces Linda that he'll never not tell her about Kathy being back again. They go on holiday to get over this revelation, leaving Nancy and Lee to organise the Kathy-oke party, and the duff duff would be Tina trying to shove Kathy's favourite chair through the pub door as it's what she would have wanted.

I don't see Gillians looks as a massive issue or insurmountable problem. Even in working class less affluent areas "glamorous grannies " sit alongside with less glamorous older ladies like Cora.
Sure she'd have to watch not going too far but at this stage I don't think it's a massive obstacle.

The fact that Gavin being Sharon's dad has been added to this story has made me unashamedly excited for her return story.
Kathy's coming home and it's going to be classic and epic!

You know Ian lost he's daughter this past year, he relationship with his son is hit the skids, his gonna become a grandfather, he gonna be a dad again if they go through with the adoption and gains his mother back it gonna be a roll coaster of emotions and drama, really look forward to it, the original family taking front and centre again.

Is it just me that thinks that It would be amusing if Kathy came back wearing all her 80's woollies. Didn't she used to sell her woollens on the market at one time? The market was so much more sophisticated and diverse in the past. I think Cindy had a hat stall. ETA Really excited about her return and not bothered at all about what she's wearing

I thought Cora was glam too. Her and Sylvie both, that's why Stan never went for Babe as she's a bit dowdy really compared to them
