Excellent ending. I hope it comes back. It takes you one way and then turns it on its head and takes you in another direction and then you think "Hells Bells." Won't say anymore as it will spoil it for those who have not watched it yet. What you playing at, get it watched!
I loved this series like Wallis and Lotty. Roll on the next series. I am glad they kept it on BBC Two and didn't attempt to put it on BBC One, because it should not be watered down. For me the stand out star from this series was Tom Hardy.

The sad thing is we have to wait until 2019 for Series 5.

I really had to hunt to find this thread. Two years plus on and I am relishing the Shelby's again. I just love it. Atmospheric and truly great drama.

I agree Wallis, the opener was superb. I just love Ada and Polly. They are back in Brum sort of. Michael will get it in the neck from Tommy when he returns from the States.

I have never watched this . Is it too late for me to start ? I read rave reviews but just never fancied it. Is it too late for me to start ? I read that David Perks ( Barry Biglow from Doctors is in this series., maybe a small part) . He is is a Brummie .
Would anyone care to give me a quick idea of what it is about. Just a global picture so that I can try and get into it. I have no idea. I was put off by reading that it is very violent. I recorded it and watched Sanditon instead. Quite good but so many characters to get one’s head round.

Quite good but so many characters to get one’s head round. You really have to watch it from the start Loup. Like you I had read and heard the reviews and tried to watch Series 3 until my daughter told me, nope, you have to go back to the beginning and that's exactly what I did. I believe the BBC have put them all on iPlayer so you could do what I did. What's it about - Britain is a mixture of despair and hedonism in 1919 in the aftermath of the Great War. Returning soldiers, newly minted revolutions and criminal gangs are fighting for survival in a nation rocked by economic upheaval. One of the most powerful gangs of the time is the Peaky Blinders, run by returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family. But Thomas has bigger ambitions than just running the streets. When a crate of guns goes missing, he recognizes an opportunity to advance in the world because crime may pay but legitimate business pays better. Trying to rid Britain of its crime is Inspector Chester Campbell, who arrives from Belfast to try to achieve that goal. BIB played brilliantly by Sam Neill. By Series 5, which started last night, we are now in 1929 so there's a lot happened to get to where we are now in the story of the Shelby's but it's worth it I can assure you.

Thanks Wallis. Not sure I am going to have the time to watch upwards of 30 hour long episodes. Maybe I’ll give it a try and see if I get hooked. Thanks anyway.

So we have Facists, IRA & Billy Boys in the mix this series. Poor Amarara, I just love Aidan Gillen. Can't wait until Sunday!

Wow, what a finale! My heart is broken cause Aberama is dead. I really wanted him to kill Jimmy the pathetic Scottish Irishman and marry Polly but I suppose that was too much to wish for in this story. Great to see Alfie back but we kind of knew after last week that Tom Hardy would make an appearance and he was great as always. To think that we are going to have to probably wait more than a year for series 6.

What a series, a little too violent at times, but sheer class. A brilliant cast and the finale with the return of Alfie was the cherry on the cake, Tom Hardy had me rolling around laughing with what he said about Margate and Birmingham. Roll on Series 6, it will be worth the wait. There is also talk of a Peaky film.
There was something on Radio 4 about the city of Birmingham and how Peaky Blinders has put the city back in the minds of many around the word especially the Yanks who think the city is "cool."

Tom Hardy is a class act and is absolutely perfect for the role of Alfie. Wonderful writing by Stephen Knight.

I'm planning to watch this show from the beginning because I've missed a lot of episodes. It's quite a good show, very underrated. One of a few UK TV dramas that I actually enjoy along with Bodyguard and Killing Eve. Has Cillian Murphy won any awards for playing Thomas Shelby? If not, then give him one! He is an underrated actor.

I agree Teeks, Cillian Murphy is bloody superb in the role. Mind you the acting is top notch all round, the actor who plays Arthur is also underrated IMO. His character's so wired the actor must be exhausted when he goes home. It's always a joy to have Tom Hardy make an appearance, I'm really glad he wasn't killed off. He suits this show so well. OK so who's {Spoiler} squealed? It was obvious that nothing was going to happen to Mosley as he didn't die until 1980-ish. But is the Irish lad out of Hollyoaks too obvious? The irritating nephew, with the even more irritating wife, who thinks he knows it all already? Or someone even closer to home? Either way I bet it's nearly another couple of years before we find out What a cliffhanger though!
