Classic EastEnders will be repeated on Drama tomorrow, but unfortunately it will be at 12pm. They are starting with the first episode, although I am not sure if they are intending to run it for quite a while like Classic Corrie.

As I work full time 12pm is useless for me I'm hoping it will be available via the on-demand service.

I have many old episodes of EE which we taped off VHS years ago and burnt to DVD, and of which I never lend to anyone as they may not come back in the good condition I will have lent them in. I have 1985-1988 episodes and many 1990s eps.
Corrie, EE and Home And Away have all started showing their old episodes. Why not Emmerdale and Neighbours now???

I watched this today, cor, I'd forgotten what an old bag that Lou Beale was. She looks like somebody has taken a chisel to her face. I suspect the vicious old cow wasn't born, she was quarried. Anyway, I decided to delve back in time to see what was posted on DS in 1985 when this episode originally aired. Here's what I found ... OMG HOW BRILLIANT IS EE???Tonix MO'S FRUIT & VEG BARRA AWRIGHT TWEACLE SOAP ISSUESMo Mouse WHY IS THERE NO GAY OR BLT CHARACTERS ITS A BASTARD DISGRACE!Vaslav SHOULD EE BRING BACK REG COX?WalfordOnToast OMFG HOW BRILLIANT WILL EE BE TOMORROW??Tonix BBC - PLEASE AXE JULIA SMITH SHE'S RUINING EE!Everyone WOULDN'T MIND GETTING TATERS DEEP IN ANGIE, SHARON, ETHEL & ROLYCharleySays VERA DUCKWORTH IS A C*NTOldnjaded

Only if Classic Corrie had the same thing.

Thanks! My box only recorded the first 2 so I cancelled the recording. Just watched the first one tonight on your link and that took me back. I remember going into work the next day and discussing this new programme with my colleagues and we all agreed it was a new breath of fresh air, which it was for it's time. Still watching though.

I’ve watched the first 6 so far.
First thoughts:
Barely been edited which is a triumph for Drama who normally tear shows to bits. The one thing they have done is blur the topless poster in the Vic!
I think production values are higher than EE in 2018. The acting certainly seems better, the characters more believable and the storylines are brewing along nicely.

By August and September 1985, EE was getting 20 million viewers and rivalling Corrie in the stakes. 2 years later, Neighbours joined them and all 3 got 21 million viewers on average an episode.

I've been recording and watching these too, on my lovely Betamax top-loading video recorder. I'm told it's the latest thing & that VHS will go out with Noah's Ark.
The nice man at Redifusion told me all this. I'm renting it at the moment, but I've been told I can buy it and own it for £799.99 plus VAT. I'll probably do that eventually, once I've finished paying Curry's £3-60p a week for my tumble dryer that I have to put a huge plastic tube out of the kitchen window every time I use it for the fluff. I've nearly paid it off now, I only have another seven years to go.
I'm also thinking of buying one of those microwave ovens, I've heard you can get them for as cheap as £400 from Comets.
Is anyone else looking forward to Live Aid on Saturday?

Classic EastEnders is ace. A real reminder of why this crap was actually worth watching. What a pity they became obsessed with digging up the graveyard and re-living the past.
If it was like this now I'd still watch it religiously. Sadly, the bosses there are flogging a horse that's not only dead, its carcass was glue a decade ago.
Let it go.

With these 1980s eps I know I am watching a Mitchell free zone.

I've got quite addicted to these, thoroughly enjoying them! One of the biggest things I've noticed is that there's no duff-duff, there's not many cliffhanger endings but I prefer it this way. I remember hating old Lou back in the day but I bloody love the old battleaxe now, she's epic Ethel's bloody hilarious too, forever dropping people in it and not forgetting the malapropisms! Sandy is a great character, the actress outshone herself this week in the cot death storyline. Her eerie quietness was much more affecting than crying and screaming. I'd forgotten that Sharon went on about being adopted and Den and Angie not being her mum and dad so much. She was quite the little spoilt bitch. I couldn't see what her and Michelle saw in the charisma-free zone that was Kelvin back then - and I still can't now 33 years later. Also forgot how much Dr Legg featured back then too. And how bloomin' awful Pauline's whiny voice was. Ugh. I could go on and on but I'll stop now. Suffice to say I'm enjoying the old episodes lol!
