That back entrance is still there. In March 1988, you could see Mr Turner and a stockbroker from London entering it. There was a small lobby inbetween the door from outside, and the door leading into the bar, yet the back window was level with the inside door. But if you looked from outside, the back door is also level with the back window.
There are several small windows dotted around the pub as well. And the back room has a huge window which seems tiny from the outside.
It is like the Vic in EE, in the small lobby between the bar and the stairwell, it has a small stairwell leading to the cellar yet the cellar is accessible from ground floor level, and the back hallway. I think tough, the Vic is the most accurate of the 3 soaps pubs.
The Rovers used to be 4 times bigger inside then outside. The fire of 1986 gave them a chance to remedy this, but even so, the kitchen still is stuck out in Rosamund Street and a ginnel was added between the toilets and No 1.

Yeah Rovey... I'm looking forward to your sketches... And any photos as well if you can... I'm quite nerdy when it comes to layouts and plans etc...

I have thought of doing a 3D model of the Woolpack like I have the Rovers in the 1970s when the interior was 4 times bigger than the exterior.

Already in April 1992 I think. Getting closer to the proper end of the Emmerdale Farm era, which was the plane crash. 4 years after they dropped the word Farm from the title.
Also sadly getting closer to the start of Dingledale.

Now into Feb 1994, I notice how the decline in the show really begun later on in 1994 with the siege, and the awful Dingle family arrival. Similar to the Battersby/Slater arrivals in the 2 other big soaps.

Did they really need the siege so after the plane crash is my thought.
Always felt it was a real pity that they widowed Alan soon after marrying Shirley. I presume that the actress didn’t want a long stint in the show (she did the same in Boon, walked after 1 series).
During 1994 Richard Thorp is actually very poorly, first he suffers a heart attack at a party held to celebrate him being on “This is Your Life” and then doctors discovered he had a form of leukaemia. The guy is a total trooper though because he’s barely absent from screen. I think he’s not in 2 episodes early September and when you see him again he has shrunk a little. I think the producers worked very hard to limit his workload whilst still keeping him on screen so as it’s not obvious that he’s not there.
When you do watch the Siege episodes, look for a now familiar face playing the hostage negotiator!

The hostage negotiator, Jarvis, was quickly ordained and changed his name to Ashley Thomas lol.

Today’s second episode. Luke and Jessica talking by his locker. Kept going close up, made me wonder if some dialogue got cut. Luke had just been talking about sex offenders 😂

We are now into Sep 1994, and already some Dingles have started arriving.

Bearing in mind what we now know about Zak, I find it hard to believe he tolerated Ben being a sex pest towards Zoe and Jessica.
The main family seems enormous, there’s Ben, Butch and another brother who never gets mentioned anymore. We’ve yet to meet Tina, Zak or Nellie.
Also got to see Kathy and Rachel in their slinky swimsuits which was a rare treat.

Nathan Dingle was last mentoned in 1995. They "Tony and Sylvia Ogden'ed" him out of existence.

Am watching these on ITV3 early in the mornings and they beat any of these lockdown offerings hands down
Interesting to see pregnant Kim has absolutely no maternal instincts and refers to Jamie as 'the thing'.
Zoe always seems grumpy as does Jack. Fascinating to see Robert and Andy as kids.
Also as CAEF says the village was much bigger then and looks a totally different place. Nicer

Still following this early and its really good, the characters are actually interesting. Zack has just met Lisa at Pollard's singles night and she is a fellow pig farmer.
Terry Woods always dressed in a shirt and tie is chasing Viv the wife of his best friend, he seems to become besotted with any female that has a pulse.
Really like Biff Fowler, wonder what happened to him, although I find Linda Glover a right misery and acts like a middle aged woman most of the time.
The two Yuppees are hilarious and its funny to see their old fashioned big backed computerware that was obviously state of the art at the time.
Happy days!

Come on are none of you watching this? Its brilliant. Andy has arrived at the farm having run away from his drunken grannie and what a bloody annoying child he is! He and Robert are thick as thieves and its hard to believe what will happen in the future when they become rivals and end up hating each other. Even Horse Head Betty and Seth are brilliant and such lovely scenery. Knocks the 2020 version into a cocked hat.

Adios Dave Glover, who could still be Wet Vet's father. I think DNA said frank was his father, but DNA has come on in leaps and bounds since 1997. Wet vet could be the grandson of Ned and Jan after all.
