Starts tonight on ITV. It will be the last season with a special episode on Christmas Day. It will be so bittersweet watching it. But it was correct to finish while it still had good ratings. www.radiotimes.com/downtonSo will the final season show Lady Mary having surgery to remove that enormous stick from her ar$e?

A good opener. Every Scene Maggie Smith is in is pure gold. Sue Johnston is also great. I would love Edith to smack Mary in the mouth. The romance between Mrs Hughes and Carson is quite endearing, but the thought of them making whoopy is a bit to_vomit

Sorry I thought it was poor and just shows how this really has run out of steam. What was all that preposterous nonsense about the unmarried spinster cook discussing with the head butler whether he wants to shag the housekeeper or not when they marry? It just would not be done, Then we have the family down in the kitchen boozing with the servants with the usual over familiarity fairy story. Mary is as stiff as ever and all that blackmail business was very weak - no way would that woman be allowed up in Mary's bedroom. How old is the Dowager supposed to be now – 100? . Daisy's ridiculous out of character outburst was just silly and not credible. For me it has lost its charm and credibility and is well past its sell by. I am surprised Thomas is still there and would not have been off somewhere with the opportunities that were opened after the end of the Great War. I was actually bored in it for the first time. Roll on the Wall Street crash!

I`m guessing that on the final episode on Christmas Day, they will have Lady Edith`s lover Michael coming back. He was presumed dead, but they never found a body did they. And now with Lady Edith moving into Michael's flat, I`m more convinced than ever that he`s still alive. Last season he barely got a mention. But on the first episode Sunday he was mentioned a few times. I`m glad the storyline has finally ended about ANna and Bates. No doubt they will have Anna finding out she`s having a baby on Christmas Day, or they end up adopting.

And then, if Michael returns, will Lady Edith claim Marigold as her own? Tricky.

This really is creaking along, not sure why the Mrs Drew and Marigold business got dredged up again. The ever awful Mary surpassed herself with her bombastic benavior - poor Mrs Hughes and why does Carson still call her Mrs Hughes even in their moments alone together? The hospital business borefest drags on and you can bet your bottom dollar that Anna will give birth to a healthy baby before the series ends. Thomas is just pointless and should have left last series.

The Hospital stuff is boring and who cares and I hope Mrs Hughes makes a stand. Good old Lady Mary (!) taking Anna to Harley Street and the gynaecologist will come up to Yorkshire from London, a good 4 or 5 hour journey to put a stitch in . Mmmmmm. The way they pop to London from Yorkshire as if it is just down the road is just silly. Still, I am enjoying it despite.

It`s good to see Lady Mary has a heart. It was nice of her to pay for Annas Harley St visit. For goodness sake Isobel...the Scottish doc has the hots for you, and has been smitten since the 1st or 2nd series.
I`m guessing Farmer Drewe and his wife/family move away, and Daisy`s Father in law takes over the tenancy of the smallholding.

I`m so torn about Mrs Hughes and her wedding. Yes it`s every bride`s privilege to choose where she wants her wedding. But I also think it`s a lovely gesture of Lord and Lady Grantham to let them use their home for the reception. But at the end of the day it`s Mrs H`s choice, and Carson shouldn`t bully her into accepting their employers kind offer.

You are probably right Wendybee, Mr and Mrs Drew are sent off after being on the farm 100 years so silly Daisy's elderly father in law can oonveniently take over. The way she demaned to speak to Cora was plain ridiculous, this over familarity with the servants has always irked me. Did Isobel not marry the Lord? I know his sons were horrible to her but I cant remember if they ever married or not.

It is ridiculous that the Drewes are going to move away after the family have been tenant farmers for over 100 years. Surely they can keep far enough away for there to be no contact with Marigold. The child is about 3 now and presumably this is the first time that Mrs Drew has seen her since she went back to the house. They would never come in contact in day to day life. Another contrived storyline .

I can`t believe I forgot about DA last night. I just finished watching it. What a beautiful wedding. I`m just a sentimental old sod when it comes to weddings. Still wiping away tears here about Carsons speech. *sniff sniff* I`m looking forward to next weeks episode too. You just know Mary and Tom are going to get together. The maid probably won`t need to make up a bed for Tom in the spare room *wink wink nudge nudge*

In fact, Branson may as well invite Lady Edith for a menage au trois. Then he can say he`s had all 3 sisters - the dirty sod.

The hour of Downton is really only about 40 minutes because of constant ads. I still like this and will watch it to the end but its a shame to see a once great series limping along. More dodging down to London for Edith and the trying on of Lady Cora's clothes in her bedroom by the servants surpassed itself by its ridiculousness. In reality they would be sacked for less not have the Lady of the hosue apologise to them. Branson has put on a few pounds, I really hope he doesnt go off with poker up her backside Mary. Wasnt it illegal to marry your sister in law anyway at that time? Great to see Ronald Pickup in a cameo as the old bloke in the old house that had seen better times. I will say it again, Thomas is totally pointless in this series.

He has as Sir Michael Reresby in Series 5.
