Hey do people like DTC still or not? Do you think he should stay longer and we can see how Stacey's storyline pans out and see if Kathy's return is good and Sharon searching for her dad is really good?

He has improved some aspects of the show but extras like Shirley Carter have been elevated to main character status and her family have come in and taken over the show. Shirley always was a mere glorified extra before her family arrived.
EastEnders does feel like CartEnders or The Carter Show.

I think there are strong issues he needs to address, balancing characters screentime, reduce storyblocking and improve pacing, not starting to many new stories while so many old ones have not been resolved and improving character development.
That said, the show is a lot more watchable these days.

I think he put everything into getting to the anniversary and everything since has been utter pish. Last August was similarly bad. I hate block storytelling as it is so formulaic: 'Carter Weeks' will involve Tina begging Mick to talk to Shirley, Shirley coming to the Vic to yell then leave, and Mick spending a scene trying to go and talk to Shirley to which she tells him to feck off and go and get a drink. Nancy throws a tantrum, Lee says 'wot we gonna do?!', Linda will look frustrated, rinse and repeat. 'B-character' weeks mean the Masoods/Cokers/Billy get a boring story, which is nothing to do with their actual main stories (killing the son, secret Dean-baby).
We are still no further storyline wise on: Ryan's cameo return, Stacey's key, Pam killing her son, Shabnam's secret baby, and many more. They just get left for months with no follow up. Storylines have poor aftermaths too. Nick's death has had no impact.
Dom has also done a complete hatchet job on some characters: see Roxy, Charlie.
It feels like the August lull has begun about 4 months early this year, I hope it's not as bad as this all the way until Kathy returns.

I agree, he used all his best writers and characters and storylines in the live eps and the show has felt quite stagnant and boring since. Hopefully things will pick up again soon. He is too much of a tease and needs to start delivering the goods.

The sad thing is, he was the complete opposite of BK/LN and was generally very good at delivering. I don't understand why he's suddenly taken such an interest in the Carters and their unbearable tragedy at the expense of other characters. I'm counting this currently Carter disaster on par with BK's ill-conceived obsession with the Brannings, in particular Derek. Shirley is the new Derek.
If he promised not to turn this into the Carter show, he should have kept his word instead of just allowing the Carters to infiltrate every level of the show. He's EP, fgs! Live Week was great but everything that's happened since then has remained on the sidelines

I expect this sort of crap from EE in August... it happens every year without fail. The worrying thing is that the August lull started in March. I've missed a week here and there since the anniversary because I looked at the short spoilers and it was heavy on the weekly 'Carter crisis' and light on the characters anyone gives a crap about.

At the moment, if I hear or read any of their names, I automatically roll my eyes. My issue is that DTC has lied to us. Good to see Linda's getting some screen time, but I'm willing to bet it won't be long before Dean, Mick and Shirley are at the helm again.

Even Mick is annoying me with his silly Cockney phrases that are virtually extinct. Lots of real life Londoners have said this. They say that EE is a total pee take when it comes to reflecting the real East End. I 00% agree. DTC said he would fix this but he hasn't. He never Shoreditched up Turpin Road, the show is even further from the smallest bit of truth it still had in it. The only thing like the East End is the shape of the houses in Albert Square.
Yet the BBC earnestly maintain that EE portrays real life.

You'll be hard-pressed to hear anyone speaking Cockney rhyming slang around here nowadays

The Derek analogy is a good one.

Which Carters do you like? Did you feel like that with the Branning's? I like all the Carters except Dean and Shirley. However at the moment Mick's really getting on my nerves, too. Apart from Tina the others aren't really doing a whole lot at the moment, and even when Tina does appear, she's sidelined by Mick or Shirl. As for the Brannings...their era was probably one of the worst I've ever witnessed and the less said about Derek and his kids the better. The other Brannings weren't much better either.
