Charley, some girls are attracted to money like flies on a dog turd even when they KNOW that person is a total gobshite. Many see themselves as WAGs but I've been through all that stuff and its not a place I'd ever choose to go to if I were to travel back in time to do it all again, in fact when one of those species was after my beautiful daughter I warned her exactly what she'd be in for and she got shot of him rapidly.
It used to really upset me back then that we would be out as a couple aged 18 & 19 respectively at one of these Club do's where there would be women of all ages chucking themselves at the players, from teens to forty year olds (and yes some did take up the offers). He always denied he was "like the others" of course but I found out at the end that indeed he was EXACTLY like all the others, only he liked ugly ones particularly. Yes he liked a piece of old crap rubbery hamburger when he had ME at home, but what he did not reckon on was me not playing second-fiddle to anybody especially anyone who looked like the rear end of a policeman's horse - and he got ELBOWED. He can just be eternally grateful to me for giving him two handsome, gentle sons because he sure as hell does NOT deserve either them nor our pretty granddaughters either. He can concentrate on his moose of a daughter instead. HA!
This behaviour still goes on in sport generally but its probably worst in football which is why the newspapers are always bulging with sordid tales of their antics. Little lads join the clubs as 11 year olds to see all this happening around them so it becomes second nature and accepted as The Norm, then gradually no matter how well they've been brought up they are engulfed by the culture of Being a Footballer as thy copy the behaviours of their peers and icons. Frankly I am GLAD beyond belief that my boys did not go into football.
