I normally like Kat but her parenting skills suck. Sure she loves Tommy but regardless of what everyone else is telling her she thinks she can solve the problem herself because in her eyes she is a good mother. Jean did the right thing in phoning social services after seeing that Tommy had been abusing his twin brothers where as Kat was taking it in her stride yet again. I wouldn't want to be in Jean's shoes when the social come knocking on the door. It was only a few weeks ago that she was hounding Bianca to face up to her problems but now she is ignoring hers. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Finally caught up and what got me about it was the tut-tuting when Alfie reacted as many men would have done in that gym. In fact he was quite mild compared to what my dad would have been like if one of my brother's had given my mam a black eye. In the short term frightening him into leaving his mum (and brothers) alone or he'll get worse might be the only solution.
To me, Kat is only thinking of how this looks for her. What people will think. She's embarrassed. I'm not saying that she isn't devasted at him turning out like this but knows that many people will point the finger, and that does happen in real life even though sometimes kids are just bad eggs.
In this case though Tommy actually said to, was it Alfie?, about his mother's merry-go-round love life. Just one line but there you have it. Not an excuse but a reason. He gets settled but then gets whipped away (or abandoned, hello Alfie, not so perfect yourself). Perhaps he finally felt secure at Phil's yet when Kat found out he'd cheated there was no thought for her boys, dragging them out of bed late at night to trudge across the square to Stacey's then doing her utmost to cut any contact between Tommy and Phil even though they'd really bonded - that was cruel. Some kids aren't wired to be able to cope with that it will show in different ways, in Tommy's case anger and aggression - and let's not kid ourselves, he saw how that has worked for Phil and is emulating it.
It's not like Tommy could have approached Kat and calmly told her how he was feeling as I doubt she'd have been receptive she was so lost in her own hurt and, again, it was her way or the highway. Also like Walls says above, she thinks she's a good mum, probably because she's protected them from abuse, sexual or otherwise. They didn't go through what she did so she must be doing OK.
And deep down Kat knows this but is too stubborn to admit it and put up with the finger-pointing if it's what's best for her son. Even to the point of knowing his younger brothers are in danger yet is still sitting there like she's calling the shots and she'll get through to Tommy with kindness. It's gone way beyond that now. So good for Jean for setting the wheels in motion. No doubt she'll be hated for it though.

Onto other things: I'm surprising myself by really enjoying the Panesar -v- NuMitchell's rivalry! Probably because it's not Phil for a change. What was Ravi thinking dangling poor Barney over the bridge?! Madness! No way Teddy was going to let that go. Now their business has gone up in flames. What next? Bet Nish is really pissed off that he's dying as he'd really enjoy this if he was in better health lol! Surprisingly I'm also quite enjoying the slow burn of Penny/Harry's vendetta against Jack. About time his chickens came home to roost when it comes to Penny. And did Harry murder his girlfriend? Why is Freddie so obsessed with saving Sonia? And has he listened to that recording yet? Get on with it lad!

The scenes with Jean and Kojo were lovely and so well played. Jessie Wallace really pulled it out of the bag tonight. A surprise re Zack looking after Tommy, but does actually make a lot of sense. Why does Kat care about Tommy more than Eric and Ernie Bert and Ernie. So where has the other Mrs Mitchell been, prison?

I had to laugh at Kat throwing Alfie out of his flat. What drugs is she on? All the Slaters/Moons excelled tonight. I don't think Alfie will shop Jean to Kat. He's a decent soul deep down.
So Zack is being lumbered with Tommy, good. He is a man of the world with a sympathetic side so should be able bring the toerag into line.
It's time Nish left this world but he seems to have made another decent recovery yet again.
A good end to the week.

I know Zack's a foster father and all (and it gives him a storyline) but I'd think twice about taking that little scrote in, he can't be trusted not to accuse him of something bad. The sight of Kat going round begging for that kid turned my stomach. I wish he'd gone into the general system and was placed well away from the square, he's too close, he can still get to her and the youngest there. She doesn't seem to care that her youngest have been physically and probably mentally abused by him and are actively frightened of him, just keeps on harping on about how he's a 'good boy' I don't understand it? She wasn't that enamoured by Michael Moon was she so she'd treat his kid different was she? Perhaps it's because she thought he'd died when Ronnie left her dead son in his place so he's been extra precious to her since she got him back, I can see why that would screw you up. There's something that's blocking her from seeing reality and she needs to snap out of it, usually it would be your 'babies' being abused that would do it. And when it comes to the flat tell HER she can bugger off Alfie, keep your boys there though save her dragging them somewhere else I bet she all of a sudden cares for them if Alfie says he's keeping them!! Well acted by all though. And it's got me well narked so it must be doing something right lol!

EastEnders have had a lot of returns this year. How about they bring back one of Tommy's uncles, Tyler or Anthony Moon, and he goes and lives with them for a bit. Or ship him off to Spencer.

Quoting myself but hasn't Tommy got a brother who's a priest in Ireland. Surely he'd take him in for some spiritual guidance

Mad priest son has never been mentioned since Kat and Alfie returned to the square. I think they'd like us to forget that storyline like it never happened. A bit like the full series of Dallas was written off as a dream when Bobby Ewing reappeared in the shower from the dead. Perhaps Kat's son was only a dream too? Or a mass hallucination? Having said all that I'd love the psycho priest son, that we all imagined, to get his hands on Tommy ...

So is the Market going to close? You can just see the 40th episode, the market is saved from closure. It would be good in one sense if it did close and add a bit of realism into the show, but it won't.
I loved the Jean and Kojo scenes again.
The Six scenes were a little rinse and repeat. Kathy what an idiot. Odd Sharon missing again. Clever Nish, setting up the rest of the week nicely. On the whole a decent start to the week.

Yeah where the hell was Sharon tonight?
Oh Kathy what have you gone and done? Nish is a psychological manipulator and I have to admit that his actions tonight were bang on in order to get to the truth about The Six or Five as it was tonight.
I'm glad that Jean has come clean to Kat. Will she regret blaming Alfie, no I don't think so.
Decent start to the week.

Where was Letitia Dean this time then? Was it even mentioned why Sharon wasn't there? Where she was?
So crafty Nish finally got to the bottom of the Six and all it took was overhearing something then nicking Suki's phone. And Kathy having flappy gob, she should still have proceeded with caution. Could this be the week that Nish finally pegs it? They know he's got a very weak heart ...
No I won't be holding my breath waiting for Kat to apologise to Alfie either. I'm fuming that he left HIS flat. Hated her attitude with the twins as well. OK she apologised for being ratty but then proceeded to blame Alfie trying to put a wedge between them and their dad. She can be a right bitch, dread to think how she's going to be with Jean now she knows.
Nice Jean and Kojo scenes. Laughed when he kept calling it a 'date'.

After that phone message from Suki to Eve is she going to return to the aftermath of Nish finding out the truth about last Christmas and his new demands to keep schtum about Keanu's killer? Suki has managed to keep her in the dark up until now but I can see Eve finding out the truth now. Where the hell is Sharon?
Poor Harvey slaves over a Greek Meze for hours only for Jean to squash it all up. Luckily the Moussaka made it over to Kathy's. It would have been cold by that time unless they fired it up in a microwave. Kathy has the hots for Harvey but he toddled off back to Jean, idiot!
I can't stand screeching Kat. She is right and everyone else looking in on the situation is wrong. Loved that Tommy didn't want to see her.
Best lines of the night, “I know you two like getting carted away every couple of years, get your loyalty cards stamped.” Also “Carry On Keanu”.

I agree Wallis some crackers tonight. "Carry on Keanu" Line of the night goes to Mo "What's this? Looks like Kermit's curled one out." Great scenes with Kat and Jean. Really liking Kojo and I did chuckle at Elaine correcting Kat on the pronunciation of her name.

I keep forgetting that Eve doesn't know anything about the 6 - how long can Suki put off telling her now? Especially with Nish piling on the pressure and looking like he wants her back properly for the duration. But surely Suki's going to do a 'Kim Tate' on Nish - wind him up that much he has a heart attack and watch him die? What a bitch Jean can be. Poor Harvey, if MrL made me a Greek meze I'd be beyond delighted! Such a lovely, thoughtful thing to do just to have her pour scorn on it and take everything out on him. She wouldn't have had the holiday in the first place if it hadn't been for Harvey. He needs to get with Kathy pronto, she's shown her interest now, instead of running away make a move. Cannot stand Kat in this screeching, I'm right, my way or the highway mode. She's insufferable. Everyone else is wrong and she's right. She has magic powers because she's his mum and knows what's best Course you do Kat. And I know the attitude of not 'grassing' on family is alive and well out there but do the likes of Bianca think it's OK for Tommy to hurt and terrorise his siblings? Punch his mum? And the best way to handle it is to tell him he's a good boy and for him to suffer zero consequences? Idiots.
