I know he has appeared on the credits since April but I wonder if some of the storylines now were created by Kate Oates? Such as the fire at the mill and the endless shootings and Dross the Thug of epic proportions going around with a list of crimes unpunished.
Iain wants a more character driven show, I wonder if he will live up to it or be another one big on promise and zero on delivery.

I`m going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Iain MacLeod`s one saving grace right now is that he isn`t focused on one character or family constantly like Kate Oates was. She let everyone know who her favourites were by shoehorning them into nearly every scene.

Still on the fence on Iain MacCleod. Is the current storylines inherited or now fast becoming his work?

Still on the fence on Iain MacCleod. Is the current storylines inherited or now fast becoming his work? Me too. Let's give him some space until his storylines actually surface. There is too much a hand-over to see the new Ex-Producers real work.

Yes we will see, he made some positive noises when he joined saying he wanted characters to talk to each other and listen more. I would love him put a ban on stunts and affairs. If he does that he won't go far wrong.

Emmerdale relies too much on huge stunts which are not shocking any more, just tedious and repetitive. And for one small village. I hope he cuts down on them.

Letting Kelvin walk was a mistake. Be interesting to see who else is sacked/released over the coming months.

I suspect Andy will be "returning" within a year Roverman, let's see how much work Kelvin Fletcher gets. Personally I cannot see whether Andy is there or not makes much difference.
I feel Emmerdale under Iain McLeod is being turned into an unfunny farce with characters made stupid and embarrassing. Paddy who was always so has now become unbearably irritating, David and Bernice not far behind and characters like Rishi turned into fools.

I'm decidedly lukewarm on him. Not optimistic at all.

I am struggling to build up any enthusiasm watching Emmerdale episodes these days. I don`t recall that happening when Kate Oates was producer. On Tuesday the episode seemed so long and boring.I had intended watching Wednesdays episode after it, but never bothered. I watched 'All Saints' online instead. There is something that I can`t quite put my finger on as to what is happening in Emmerdale these days. And the only thing I can think of is that the writers have made the characters so full of flaws or just plain boring that I find it hard to be sympathetic to their plight. Case in point...Zak Dingle. The old Zak would never have strayed - let alone leave his family and marry a boring old floozy like Joanie. I don`t know what the writers and Kate Oates were thinking when they ruined this character.

Maybe a bit too premature to judge but I am not holding out any hopes in Iaiaiaiaiaiaiaiain MacccCleod as producer.

I think Kelvin will be back at some point, not sure if he intends to do more acting roles, but he does have interests outside the business with motor racing. I wonder if he would like to do this on a fulltime basis? I suspect he was quite restricted what he could or could not do while on Emmerdale.

Letting Kelvin walk was a mistake. Be interesting to see who else is sacked/released over the coming months. I think Soaps in general need work horse characters like Andy. They may not seem important, but they are the bread and butter characters of the soaps. I think Andy is the equivalent of Jason in Coronation Street and with the soaps churning out more episodes each week, these type of characters become even more important to the health of a soap. Also the likes of Andy are a link to the past which is also important.

I am sure Kelvin will be back. Again another actor who leaves a soap thinking they have made it and their switchboard at home will melt off the wall for the amount of TV offers coming in. And in 3 or 4 years after leaving, a guest role in Doctors or a role as henchman No 13 in Midsomer Murders is all they get and they ask for the old job back.
