In 1976 Amos and Mr Wilks had to move locations due to subsidence, this also helped cover the fact the filming location moved from Arncliffe to Esholt.
In the 'moving' episode it comes up in conversation that the Malt Shovel isn't IN the village, per se, its on the edge of the village.

CEF has a theory that the original Woolly stood where the gap is for Cain's garage now...

Very difficult to say, the original Woolpack was in a village with a different layout. It was a much wider and grander looking building, the new building was described as being 'around the corner' and was not a pub beforehand. It had previously been some kind of Corn Chandler, which I assume it means it had a good cellar. When it was visited in early 1976 the new building was not in good condition. I can see why CEF thinks that, Dale Head does look like it should be a bigger building.Perhaps the original Wooly was there, it fell down and the replacement building is smaller.

Is Dale Head the house where Jackson croaked it...? If so, them stairs on the outside have always intrigued me...

The house that Jackson renovated and then was allowed to live in when he crashed his van and became a quadriplegic.
