Today marks fourteen years since Bet Lynch made her final appearance on the show. She was due to marry Cecil but he died, and his son didn't approve of her. I wonder if that son is the father of Henry Newton.

Fifteen years ago to this day Richard tried to drown the Platts in the canal. My first Corrie episode.

I wonder if that son is the father of Henry Newton. I pondered on that when Henry was brought in, previously on Corrie they’ve taken the time to explain the Newton/Ridley dynasties and it’s been quite clear who is related to whom. I reckon age wise he certainly fits as a grandson. What I would have liked to have seen is some comments from Henry such as “I remember my late grandad telling me about his plans for the Rovers”.

I have mentioned it a few times but I cannot forget that Alf carked it 20 years ago today. Yet Audrey has not once mentioned the 20th anniversary so far.

On this day in 1990, the McDonald twins crash a JCB into Alf`s shop window. And on this day a year later, Steves antics causes Liz to go into premature labour, and her daughter Katy sadly dies. Steve is not exactly a son to be proud of is he.

Not really part of Corrie history, but happy birthday to Helen Worth (Gail Rodwell), who is now 68.

Hilda Ogden will be celebrating her 95th birthday today. They never announced her death on screen after the actress died in 2016. Well that is typical of the current Corrie writers, so we can only assume Hilda is still alive.

Today is 56 years since the first appearance of Hilda Ogden.
In 1936, Tony Warren was born.

I know it's not on the day, but I just realised Christmas Eve marked ten years since Tracy Barlow got released from prison.
