1980-1984 IMHO.
Inbetween April 1980 and December 1984 we lost Ena, Elsie, Albert, Stan, Billy, Annie and Len, all early years characters.
All gone by the end of 1984 so January 1985 was when it was obvious that all the above would not be seen again in the show.

I think the early years died when Elsie left for good, and then the final nail was put in the coffin when Hilda left. so around 1987, as Elsie was dead in real life, and also Albert, Stan and Ena. On another note i never really cared for Len from what clips and ep's i have seen of him on youtube and other websites.

Len was obnoxious and was played by a kid fiddler.

I agree when Elsie left in 1984 was when the early years finished and was never the same again sadly.

I wish that someone from Corrie was on this Forum, or any Forum, to read these comments then maybe they could report back and give us what we, the viewers, want not what they think we want.

I wish that someone from Corrie was on this Forum, or any Forum, to read these comments then maybe they could report back and give us what we, the viewers, want not what they think we want. I know what you mean, I just want normal everyday story lines. I cannot remember the last time this happened. Sitting down to breakfast, making a cup of tea, going to the corner shop to buy a loaf or a packet of rich tea biscuits, someone cooking the tea, instead of going to the poncy Bistro all the time. Sounds boring but it would make a refreshing change. Dev's emporium doesn't even look like a corner shop. At least in EastEnders the Minute Mart looks like a shop. EastEnders got panned recently for being normal and boring, we had Stacey cooking the tea with Sausage and Mash and Lilly having Fish fingers. Emmerdale has long gone into being a fantasy for fan Boys. Dallas with Wellies. When was the last time you saw a cow? and I don't mean a ding bat Dingle. When was the last time someone baked a cake or a loaf of bread? Not since Annie hung up her apron. I long for normal in my soap, I would dearly love Coronation Street take a leaf out of EastEnders book and get back to basics. It would be great, but I doubt this will happen with Kate Oates in charge. We need Daran Little back to take charge and save our favourtie street.

Daran's going nowhere Holey. We need him for EE as you can tell without knowing that it's one of his episodes. He has written for next weeks big story and I can't wait!

Corrie and Emmerdale are the 2 oldest soaps on TV yet they have virtually lost all of their originality.
EastEnders, Neighbours and The Archers are very much the same shows they always were.

Len was obnoxious and was played by a kid fiddler. Agreed, he also went bankrupt towards the end of his life, and I'm sure he was axed due to his behaviour?

Adamson released his memoirs even though Bill Podmore told him not to. I think he was then sacked. At the same time, Peter Dudley was caught doing naughties in a public loo.

(I know he was found not guilty, but I don't buy it, especially after he went on Australian tv. And said that rape victim's bring it on.)

He believes that what people do in their past lives affects what happens in this one. I guess from his standpoint someone who has been e.g. raped, sexually abused perhaps was a rapist, sexual abuser in a previous life and 'karma' is catching up with them. Or something like that. So I don't think he's necessarily saying that victims have done anything wrong in THIS life, they're paying for what they've done in previous ones.
Now I believe that people can believe what they like, fair do's, but this man has been in the public eye long enough to know that he shouldn't be saying things like that, that they can be misconstrued and will be downright offensive to abuse victims. I can't believe he was so crass and horribly insensitive. I went off him a lot around this time. I got what he was trying to say, but don't think he should have been saying it at all stupid man.
EDIT: and if he was guilty of what he was in the dock for, then with his beliefs I'd be scared for my next life as it'll catch up with him!

I agree with people being able to voice there opinion, but I do think he needs to look at it from there point. I agree with everything you said, I especially agree with him paying in his next life, if he is guilty.

I doubt it would make much difference to be honest. Their official Facebook page gets complaints pointing out how much utter drivel it is, yet ITV still think they are doing well and try to encourage fans to vote for them in the awards.
