Everything you said basically. Kush is an utter turd. I was fuming when he hid Martin's phone so he could take him out on the piss undisturbed. Great logic by the way Kush, a night out on the ale is JUST what an absolutely knackered solo-parent to a brand-new baby needs. Yeah, why not help him get even more tired and feeling even crappier from a gutfull of booze to face those twilight feeds! I must say, I very much liked the Bobby Beale 'golf club' reference. 'Just grab a golf club' says Ian...be careful what you wish for I say! I woner if Bobby's going to work his way through all the weapons of sport? He's already had a go with the golf club, now he's brandishing a hockey stick...does Phil still have that baseball bat, because Bobby will be after that next!

When Paul Nicholas originally joined the cast as Gavin, I for one was quite excited at the prospect, but now I am only very mildly intrigued and the reason for that is the 2 eps here 3 eps there. I know it was done as it was the only way to get Paul because his schedule was full, but it really has lessened the impact of Gavin for me, however, saying that his scenes with the marvellous June Brown were well worth watching. Dot was fab tonight. RIP Christine, I loved you and didn't see enough of you, I'll miss you Babe is a cold, evil bitch but by goad Annette Badland is magnificent I really can't be arsed with Whitney any more at all smiley-angry Martin you should have punched him a few more times smiley-biglaugh And oh jeez to walk in on that.... I enjoyed this evenings offering, and Daran Little being the writer definitely helps. 8/10 from me

I bloody love Babe lol! In a love to hate her way of course. She's so sneaky and of course she might have made Les pay anyway for giving her the brush off but now she knows his deepest darkest secret he's had it! She's got photographic evidence too. Why on earth did they not stay there to make sure that everything burned especially the photographs? I'm with Aaron though, I'll strangely miss Christine (or should that be Ruth Langsford? lol!), I was looking forward to seeing her again. Not liking Whitney much nowadays I also enjoyed it when Babe socked back at Whit that she knew she'd kissed Mick and did she want Lee to find out? Boom! Take that Whit. Also Whitney's reaction to Lee stinking of fish was totally OTT especially as it was in public. I know she's gorgeous but other than that I have no idea why Lee puts up with her. It was interesting watching Dot and Kathy's differing reactions to Gavin. I have no doubts that what Gavin described about his mother happened but I reckon he can pull it out of the bag to get sympathy like someone else can do a party trick, let's not forget he's very manipulative. But Dot was unmoved and hardened her heart remembering the child he was but Kathy, who of course has been emotionally invested in him for a long time, finds it harder to brush him off and made a good show of it in front of Dot but as soon as Dot left she gave in and agreed to talk to Sharon, even though earlier Gavin had been really nasty in bringing up Donna the daughter Kathy had as a teenager and put up for adoption. Good scenes, I was fascinated. What the actual hell? Was Tina supposed to be some sexy enticing mermaid? Loved it when Martin said "does she do that often?" with a wry look on his face lol! James Bye is another one who's just getting better and better in the role (I've liked him from the off but he's really settled in now), Martin is getting some excellent scenes and is showing some of that Pauline/Lou fire in his belly. A good character and I particularly enjoy that he's connected to Pauline, Arthur, Lou, Pete, Michelle, Mark, Ian etc, legendary original characters. Sonia is being surprisingly tolerable lately too. I like that she's now supporting Martin without putting him down. Proper, non-judgement, helpful support. Her and Martin managing to remain friends is a definite plus for their daughter but I think there's genuine affection on both sides too (which is why Tina gets so prickly when he's around!) but please DO NOT put them back together! I enjoyed that episode.

Babe is such a warped, vindictive and desperate old bag of a specimen of a woman and Annette Badland plays the part so well. She is always hanging about in the shadows of where she shouldn't be gathering information to use against all and sundry. Even folks she hardly even knows! What a sick mind she has.......
Love Martin and agree that James seems really comfortable in the role. I can't wait to see the fallout when he finds out the truth about baby Arthur.
I really enjoyed the episode too.

I'm sure I will be getting sacked soon but on my little episode summation earlier I forgot to mention the very special occasion:
The fact Tracey had a line, a line that almost had me slipping off the couch onto the floor, I was in stitches. smiley-biglaugh smiley-biglaugh smiley-biglaugh

Right, Gavin actually came across as believably manipulative and evil today. He wasn't like a panto villain, they didn't have to ++++ over original characters to show his power - yes i'$ talking about Sharon falling under his spell within minutes just to excuse Kathy's abandonment of her children. I loved how he placed responsibility back at her door for that, stating that he would have been dead for real if he hadn't faked his death but he didn't make Kathy do it, it was her choice. I believed he was telling the truth then and I could see how Kathy would go along with him - especially if she has had that 'irpn fist in a velvet glove' treatment for years whilst cut off from her family on a day to day basis whilst in SA and then of course, on the run.
I think Gavin is probably telling the truth about most things, his childhood, his debts, his fate if they hadn't faked their deaths, his need/want for companionship be it Kathy, Sharon or Denny. His power, intelligence and skill is how he presents these truths
Oddly enough I didn't think his bringing Donna up was that bad as it was in direct response to the accusation of him having given up his chance with Sharon. They were both children given up for adoption when they were very ypung so there are some similarities. Of course Kathy's rape does put a much nastier slant on it but her not wanting Donna even when she came back as a young adult could be seen as hypocrisy when discussing Sharon.
Wow, Dot was hard. Of course she has decades of experience dealing with sob stories and guilt trips and she is right but still very hard.
Bitchney lived up to her name. Yes, Babe is awful and Whit doesn't trust her but it isn't actually any of her business what Abi is up to, or Babe's role in it and she's got a ruddy cheek being high and mighty about deceit and hurting people when she has recently made a move on her father in law (whilst her boyfriend is suffering from depression) and brought a wanted criminal into their home! Good on Babe I say.
Not good on Babe is whatever she has lined up for poor Les and Pam. They were bloody stupid not checking everything, especially the photos, was properly burnt.
Martin and Sonia have known each other since they were about 8 and regardless of the romantic/sexual side of things, it's not really surprising that they retain a great affection for each other. They were friends before anything else and they have lost so many other people, especially Martin, they must feel like the 'constants' in each others lives. It is good that they haven't let their divorce spoil that. Interesting that Sonia seems to be in the same place with Tina as she was Martin when she cam back 2 years ago. Except Sonia appears to be the one neglecting her partner whereas she complained it was Martin to her. I've like James Bye from his first episode but yes, he just keeps getting better. The "does she do that a lot" was fantastic!

If i was crude, i could make a comment about heading over the road to see Tina since Sonia isn't interested in her Prawns....but I'm not so I won't.

LOL! smiley-biglaugh Love the way the actress is being rewarded for her loyalty by getting lines now, keep it up EE (edit: wrote this before I saw KK's post above).

I really dislike Babe. She makes my skin crawl. I even have trouble not turning my head away when she's on screen, I find it that hard to watch her at times. She is an utter sociopath. Credit to the actress.
I'm not really sure why she's all of a sudden started meddling in everyone's lives: Abi, Whitney, Les. I just hope we don't have too much of her in upcoming s/l's as I think that might be a bit too panto personally.
I wonder if she'll try and blackmail Les now. What I hope happens is that, whatever nasty business she has planned, it encourages Pam back to Les. I could picture Pam becoming very protective over Les if he fell under attack. Babe might become that common enemy. On the same vein, good luck Babe once Claudette finds out! She'd eat her alive imo! (and Donna, lol!)

I think Babe is meant to be hated. I love to hate her. She is a good character, she is very crafty and Machiavellian and has a tongue that makes Lou Beale look soft. Babe does remind me of Lou Beale, she is the Lou Beale of the Teenies. Just a craftier version, Lou was very open.
Happy 89th birthday yesterday to June Brown.

I agree dak, I think that Pam will fight like a tiger for Les now. She might be pissed off with him but if someone else comes into the equation trying to embarrass/give him grief for 'Christine' I reckon that will be a different matter altogether. I really hope they have Babe being the one who ends up ostracised with Mick and Linda turfing her onto the street for the embarrassment she's brought to their door too with her actions (whatever they are). But Babe has got those photos, I can see the bitch printing loads of copies and pinning them everywhere Claudette -v- Babe! I never thought of that. That would be well worth a watch because when Claudette isn't being all gangster and Ma Baker with her son I quite enjoy her, I certainly enjoyed her scenes with Les and reckon she would knock Babe around the square if she messes with Les lol! Poor Babe, I almost feel sorry for her as Les has two tigresses more than willing to scratch her to smithereens Babe might find that she's bitten off more than she can chew *fingers crossed*

I'd love the unlikeable wannabe tough guy Phil to meet a mate of mine, nicest bloke you can meet, a Northerner, but is a right scrapper if anyone started on him and would easily decimate Phil in a fight. Shows that most real hardmen are very likeable and thoughtful but are physically stronger than most men.
I think Steve McFadden is much more physically powerful than the character he plays.
