ITV 3 start showing Coronation Street this afternoon. 2 episodes a day, 5 days per week.
They start from 1986 with Alan Bradley's first appearance.
This era also marks Jenny and Sallys introductions and Susan has just started dating Mike Baldwin.

If I had more time I would watch this... However like The Bill... I really want to watch but just couldn't keep up... The Bill fell by the wayside after just two eps...
And the TV is really hotting up again now winter is looming... They should put it on in spring when there is naff all on...

I know what you mean.
I'm at home during the day presently (old health problem has resurfaced meaning I'm signed off) so time isn't an issue for me.
Yes, if I was working, no way could I manage all the current soaps (the Aussie ones always go first) let alone repeats.
But, I'd be tempted to sacrifice one or two current ones for 80s Corrie.
Casualty and Emmerdale are ones I have to force myself to watch most of the time now. Could do without them.
There is a repeat early morning, about 6.30 I think, if that helps.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if it was just twice a week... But everyday is a bit much...

A weekend omnibus would certainly help. Especially if it were early morning so minimal adverts.

Perhaps Kitkat my dear... You could watch it for us all... And then give a brief synopsis on here every day...
That way busy people like myself and Wallis can keep up... And Loup could watch it... Then come on here to find out what was really going on...
Problem solved... I'll look forward to it... At least 500 words into short paragraphs please...

There`s the perfect description kitkat.....forced to watch. Because that`s how I feel when I watch Emmerdale these days. Too many unpleasant characters in there lately, with repetitive storylines. Add to that an arrogant producer who because his soap won (in spite of him not because of him), he thinks he can do do wrong. And as long as Emmerdale keeps winning awards, I`m sure Iain McOaks won` t be giving up his Producer title anytime soon.

Shame, I can't watch . I need subtitles and they don't have any. Haven't liked it because I'm pleased you need subtitles, just share your frustration. That is really rubbish.. I'm sure subtitles were available back then but I guess they might have been via Teletext. You'd think they'd get them.on though. Especially as I imagine a large part of the demographic for 30year old Corrie, are likely to be older so mire likely to have hearing difficulties.

Then come on here to find out what was really going on... Problem solved... I'll look forward to it... At least 500 words into short paragraphs please... I'll give it a go. Started the morning after Ken had told Susan that Mike and Deirdre had an affair hoping it will.put her off him. Instead it just put her off Deirdre and she stropped off to stay at Mike's even though he was away. He came back, confirmed the affair but that it wasn't like Ken.had said. She accused him.of only going after her as a Deardre substitute and stropped off again. Mike went to the Barlows to try and find her but Deirdre wouldn't let him.in. ken was delighted to hear that she'd left Mick but by episode end, she'd stropped back to him. Does a lot of stropping, Susan. Tracey is around a lot asking questions a.nd whittering about being adopted by Ken. More later......

Thought about bumping this thread. Now into March 1993 I think, and Amy Nelson's first episode. Sad that Louise Duprey left the show suddenly due to a nervous breakdown and she never returned to acting afterwards and died of a drug overdose in Feb 2000, although her exact death date is unknown as she lay undiscovered for days.
The character of Amy was said to have gone on holiday to Trinidad, and reconciled with her ex and dumped Andy.
