I like her so am looking forward to seeing her in the role. I think she's a good choice. I wonder if Tosh will be miffed she wasn't promoted so there'll be a slight undercurrent of resentment there?

Ashley Jensen who is an accomplished Scottish actress is taking over Jimmy's role for series 8. How Tosh will get on with her is anybodies guess. Ashley was in the 2 part drama Mayflies a few weeks ago but it might not have been everyone's cup of tea as it was about assisted suicide. She played a very good part though as she always does. Was she the one in Extras with Ricky Gervais? If so I am not impressed. I never watched it but I believe so.

I just saw 4 episodes of season 8 have already been aired. Download has started.
Yes, she was the one in Extras and the nurse in After Life.

I'm really enjoying this series although I thought I wouldn't without Douglas Henshall. I've always liked Ashley Jensen and she is definitely not going back to London.

I agree walls, loving it. I've always liked Ashley Jensen too, she has a warmth to her that I like, but I also think that her and Tosh are making a good team. I'm enjoying the storyline too.

Another one that thought Shetland would be rubbish without Perez but its pretty good with Ashley Jensen and all the usual twists and turns. Thought it very unlikely that she would leave the police station landline number instead of her personal mobile phone to receive the DNA results and they wouldn't be given out to anyone who just happened to answer.

I'm glad you enjoyed it BB. I've seen Ashley in a good few dramas over the years and she never fails to impress as she is a decent actress. We are waiting to find out if there is going to an 8th series. I know she is up for it but it will be down to the BBC and their budget.

I enjoyed also which surprised me as was not a fan of the series before now. I thought Phyllis Logan was superb also as the vile Grandmother.

My only gripe is that hiring Jensen means Tosh won’t get made up to DI properly, and she’s deserves it.
