Bill Roache's eldest daughter, Vanya, has died at the age of 50.
This is very sad, another.premature death somebody close to him, having already.lost another daughter and his wife.
It also means he will be off Corrie on Compassionate Leave for an unspecified period of time.

That is sad news. Poor Bill, he has had some tragedy to cope with in recent years. I hope he takes the time he needs away from the show to be with family and friends.

I won`t be surprised if he never comes back to Corrie. I wouldn`t blame him if he didn`t come back.

Yes, I had the same thought Wendy. I know he's very committed to the show and has long given the impression that he'll work until the end.
But this might be one personal tragedy too far to bounce back from, at least enough to resume filming.
Otoh, the routine of that might be the distraction he needs to carry on.

I think he'll come back to work eventually, if his health keeps up of course as he's 85 and shocks like this at this age can have a detrimental affect. My mum was 67 when my brother died and it floored her for a long time and did actually make her ill. The first anniversary of his death she spent in hospital with heart pains - yet she has a very healthy, well functioning heart nowadays never mind back then, so it goes to show.
However, we should also remember that Bill has particular spiritual beliefs where he'll genuinely believe his daughter's spirit has survived and she's gone to a better place (I don't mean in traditional religious beliefs i.e. gone to God). I remember him saying something similar about his wife, it was almost as if he was pleased for her and that helped him with his grief. Did I imagine it or did he say that he'd seen his wife and/or spoken to her? I can't recall the details. If this helps him through it, good.

Yes, I did almost mention his beliefs in my.post. Like them.or not (and some of the remarks he has made stemming from them are controversial to say the least) he clearly draws great strength from them. That might continue to be the case.
Or yet another loss might cause him to question them.
I might be wrong but I think he found thus spiritual path after his younger daughter died, perhaps as a way of coping?, so whether it will work again, who knows.
In any case, it's about the worst loss imaginable at any age but it must be an extra concern at his time of life.
One of my Mum's cousins predeceased her Mother a few years ago. We at all sure it would have destroyed Nellie but she was succumbing to Dementia so it never properly sank in and she kept forgetting.
She just.moaned about her daughter neglecting her. Which is a mercy or tragedy depending on how you view it I suppose.

William Roache has returned to work. Thought he might, as the show is one of the things that seem to keep him going strong. Hope things work out for him in the end.

They always say work is good for you and it’s been his one constant.
