Alf Stewart. I always, always get him and Alf Roberts from Corrie mixed up. Well they are both called Alf, both grumpy grocers who ran a shop.

Without a doubt in my mind it`s Alf 'flaming galah' Stewart. Not just because he was there from day one - but because he`s iconic with his many phrases. Plus he`s interacted with practically every character in Home and Away`s since it started.

Alf often said "stone the crows" when he caught Don wanking in the headmasters office lol.

For me Pippa Fletcher/Ross. This to me was what H & A was all about. I Prefered Alison dowling but warmed to Debra Lawrence.

It took me a long time to get used to Debra Lawrence. I always preferred Vanessa Dowling. She had a natural warmth about her that I just couldn`t see in Debra for quite a while.

I voted Pippa because she was the main character for a long time and the show was built around her arrival in the bay and her family, although I admit if you are voting on the basis of longevity it would be Alf. My favourite characters though were Ailsa, Bobby and Steven.
