Right here is a Corrie fanfic set in August last year, just after Dennis Tanner left Coronation Street. This story features him lodging with his 89 year old aunty Fay Butler in Nelson Street who is very fit for her age. Dennis then decides to leave Weatherfield for good and move to London to stay with a friend. Ken Barlow is still furious with Dierdre over not being told about Peter being banged up while he was away in Canada. Rob Donovan is still trying to cover his tracks.
Dennis tells Fay that they has distant relations in Coronation Street, Horrible Eileen and her 2 sons. They visit the graves of Wally Tanner, Dennis's late grandfather and scatter Elsie Tanner's ashes on her parents graves. And when Emily and Rita go for a walk on the Red Rec they spot a former Coronation Street resident. And will Tim Metcalfe be tempted into crime by an old schoolfriend?
Outside the Rovers Return.
Ken Barlow is walking down past the Rovers. He has come back from the library and sees Emily Bishop walking down.
EMILY Morning Kenneth.
KEN Hello Emily, were you off to?
EMILY To pick up my medication for my back pain. How are things between you are Deirdre?
KEN I still am annoyed she never told me while I was away in Canada. Peter is no killer.
Steve McDonald comes out to clean the windows.
STEVE Morning you two, declaring your romance with each other?
KEN That is one thing I have missed, the humour round here.
Michelle comes out.
MICHELLE Steve can you give me a hand bottling up, instead of doing the easy jobs.
STEVE Calm down love. Anyway Emily where is Dennis Tanner? Not seen him for a few days.
EMILY Rita and Dennis have broken up. He has moved away apparently. Heaven knows where, may be with his sister Linda or even his elderly aunty Fay Butler.
KEN Oh yes Elsie Tanner's sister. She must be about 90 now.
EMILY I do sometimes see her at the library and she lives in Nelson Street, she is very fit for 89.
Inside Fay Butler's house in Nelson Street, Weatherfield.
FAY Dennis you may be staying here but dont sit around all day. Don some housework.
DENNIS Sorry aunty Fay.
FAY I will be 90 in January and still cook and clean for myself.
DENNIS Sorry Aunty Fay.
FAY You cheated on Rita with this Gloria Price woman and mucked her about again, no wonder she threw you out.
DENNIS Dont worry I wont stay for long. I contacted an old friend in Battersea in London, he has offered for me to stay with him. I may be on a pension and so is he but he runs a cafe and has offered for me to give him a hand. May be best to leave Weatherfield for good this time, never return. Before I do I think it is best we scatter mum and Bill Gregory's ashes on nan and grandads graves.
FAY Yes my sister would have liked that. As you know our parents died in 1941 when our house was bombed. Be good to have Elsie reunited with mum and dad.
DENNIS I can finalise my divorce4 with Rita through my solicitor. Best to cut all ties. That is why it would be good to visit the cemetery one last time before I move away. Visit Grandad Wally as well as nan and grandad Arthur and Alice.
To be continued............
