High and mighty Rita was the one who refused to go into partnership with Bet when Bet wanted to buy the Rovers after the brewery put it on the market due to a restructuring scheme. Bet and Reet had always been good friends up to then. Bet did jump the gun a bit as Reet only said she would consider it. The clapped out chorus girl refused and Bet said if Rita had not married Len, she'd have nothing. Bet accused her of only being a friend when there was no problem, but not there during her darkest moments, aka a false friend. Fair weather pal. Bet then left Weatherfield.
Wonder if Bet made any new PALS PALS while away.

Julie Goodyear smokes like a chimney. I think Bet should have stayed away after 1995 as when she returned in 2002 she looked more fake than Katie Price.
