It was a good decision to put Jenny in the Rovers as landlady. She reminds me a bit of both Annie Walker and Bet Gilroy in their heydays. Whoever decided that Toyah would be a good landlady needs their head read. Although she wasn't as bad as me-me-chelle. Being a landylady means they have to be just a bit sympathetic, and also a good listener. Mee-me-chelle lorded over the Rovers like lady muck. And she used to throw people out, dragging them out by their hair. I can't remember who that was she threw out.. Liz McDonald was also a terrible landlady. She was great as a barmaid, but not landylady material in my opinion.
I hate to say it, but Vera Duckworth made a lousy landlady too. I loved her character, I just didn't think she was cut out to be a landlady - not even as a barmaid really.

Betty certainly would've been the best landlady if we had seen it on the telly ourselves. But nooo they had to use it as a plot after Berry Driver died. And whoever thought of the plot to give prawn Betty`s HotPot recipe needs taking out and shooting. Idiots.

Annie Walker without a doubt.
The best landlady they never had would have been former Landlady of the Woolie Diane Sugden.

I remember Gina Gregory as barmaid, and always thought she would've made a terrific landlady. She had terrible taste in men though. Dev? Gawd.

I think (not sure if this is the one) but the actress met her husband on Corrie. He played Jez Quigley . I'll look it up.

I knew they were married Lou, but didn't know they had two sons. How lovely.

Bet was a great landlady. She would have carried on if Rita had agreed to back her in buying the pub off the brewery in 1995.

I like Jenny behind the bar. To me she is a sort of mixture of proud/snobby Annie Sugden but with the vulnerability and likeability of Angie Watts on EE. You can imagine the regulars confiding in her the same way they did with Angie. So far so good, it'll be interesting to see how she gets on. Like Wend says, she's a MASSIVE improvement on Me-me-chelle.
Strangely, I didn't mind Liz as landlady though but I was annoyed they chucked Stella (who I was getting used to) out of the Rovers to put Liz back in there.

It took me a while Lottz, but I rather liked Stella as landlady. Sorry to say it, but I hated Liz behind the bar. When Me-me-chelle was married to Steve, and her and Liz used to gang up on Steve - it really infuriated me. It was bullying at its worst. And then when Steve fell into a depression, there was so sympathy at all - just jokes at Steve's expense. Liz would never have treated golden boy Andy like that.
It seems the writers are stuck in a rut of what to do with Liz. Personally if I was one of the writers - I`d pack her off to Spain for a few years. She`s neither use nor ornament as my Mam used to say.

I liked Stella also, a shame Stuart The hat brought back Liz Mcdougal. It never worked with Steve and Liz.
