I saw this too. One of the Mrs Wilsons is played by her real life granddaughter.

I`m also intrigued by it because of it being a true story wallis. How amazing is it that the actress is the granddaughter of the woman in the story. I knew I`d like it even before I watched it. That doesn't happen very often. 'Keeping Faith' was the last one I knew I`d like before watching. And it was you who recommended it to me wasn't it wallis.

No wonder Alex died when he did with all those women on the go. Cause of death - sh@gged out! It was a good episode - I enjoyed it very much. When is the next episode?

I see Keeley Hawes listed in the credits as Dorothy at the end of the episode wallis.

What an incredible story. I noticed that a fellow student from drama school was in it at the end playing the Matron . Susan Jameson. However by that time I was lost . Matron of what and what did she have to say ?
Loved the very end where all the massive family came on.

She was the nursing matron during the First World War when the house was requistioned as a hospital. She helped Alec who was a patient in a pretty bad way get better by encouraging him to write and then someone else brought in a typewriter to make it easier for him.

I haven't watched episode 3 yet. I watched episode 2 yesterday, and I was struck by something that Dorothy`s son told Alison about reading all his father`s books. Alec was still writing books in the 60`s, so how could he have read them all when his Mother Dorothy told him he died during the war? It could all be explained away by episode 3, but haven't got that far yet.

It bugged me so I watched it again on IPlayer. I should watch again because I thought the matron said that he came to the hospital when he was a teenager having been injured in the Battle of the Somme(1916) . Alec was born in 1893 which would make him 23 and not a teenager . I'll check it out.

They have admitted that the character Shahbaz Karim from Lahore - is an invented character, since there are few records from his time in India in the 1920s. He also wrote under 4 names and his last book was published in 1940.

Just checked. She definitely said that he came to the hospital as a teenager during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. He was born in 1893 which makes him 23. This is a matter of continuity gone wrong. I also read that Alison only knew about one wife, Gladys, and not about the others. They only came to light later. The family found out.
