I don't want to see any more of any of them. They are brats and should be treated accordingly. Especially the ones in Eastenders. The ones in Corrie and Emmerdale aren't too bad.

Hey which kids would you like to see more off in Eastenders? This is a serious thread I don't want any silly answers. I would like to see more of Lily, Janet and Amy. I get that it is a serious thread so will try hard not to sound flippant but I'm afraid I find most of them quite annoying so don't mind them not appearing much. Janet is adorable, happy for her to appear. Little Beth is also very cute but as she is a baby she should be. I loved Kamil but sadly do,'t think we'll see him again. Of the older ones, Bobby because i want to see how the storyline develops and like his relationship with Cindy.

Janet's a little star so I'd definitely love to see more of her. I couldn't care less about any of the others. I thought Kamil Masood was adorable, shame he's not about anymore. Kamil was lovely - he was answering the phone at like 18 months but didn't come across as a brat. I'm not sure what upset me more, Zainab going or that she took Kamil with her.

If we're not just restricting this to EE i have to say i'm very fond of little April in Emmerdale and the toddler they had playing Jac and Jonny's baby Emma in recent Holby City was unbelievably cute. Enormous eyes, sweet smile, alert and paying attention to everything and everyone around her but seemingly quite docile and well behaved.

That kid really was awesome, I agree that he and Janet are the best of the bunch.

I want Lily to do more of her 'Exorcist' routine like off of last night - where residents wake up and she's standing over their beds. Other than that soap kids are simply plot devices so we shouldn't need to see them too often. She frightened the beejeezus out of me in that scene - looked like a bloomin' ghost! Sounds stupid but there's something about that kid that I find slightly disturbing Quality analysis Lots, she puts hell in me she really does. Always creeping about the place, sidewinding around like a little demon. When Stacey called her and Tommy down to get some chips she was probably performing satanic rituals on him or something. I wouldn't be surprised if her demon-head turned 360 degrees and all. Her sort normally have heads that do that kind of thing. Then again, with 2 murderers for parents she was utterly fecked from the start.

I would like to see more of Janet and see how Billy copes with her special needs and see him trying to provide for her and be a good dad to her.

Kids are utterly pointless in soaps. They are a boring story device at best, quickly forgotten when the plot suits, which then become a problem for scriptwriters as they're constantly having to write in excuses for why the kid is not on screen.

No the are not. Janet is lovely in Eastenders and so is Lily. In Emmerdale April Windsor is cute and Sarah Sugden is good. Kids are around in real life it wouldn't be realistic at all if there no kids in soaps at all.

Kids are around in real life it wouldn't be realistic at all if there no kids in soaps at all. I'm not ure that anybody is saying they don't want any kids in at all, merely that they tend to only be used as plot devices when needed and forgotten the rest of the time with no explanation as to where they are. Denny, for example, hasn't been seen for months without even a passing comment as to him playing upstairs, being at a friends, summer camp etc. If they were just there in most scenes set in the houses without being the focus of them, that would be fine and realistic but that isn't what happens. If they are there, invariably they are 'featured' so become the main focus of the scene. And a lot of people, whilst they don't dislike kids in real life and know they have to ne featured in a cross generational soap, they want to watch adult drama rather than kids. I actually think that Neighbours handles this quite well with Nell who is about 2 or 3. She is nearly always present in scenes at her home but the drama goes on around her, we just see her playing or watching and listening to the adults with her sometimes piping up. It has also long been established that she has a child minder so if she isn't around, we know who is looking after her, allowing her parents to have storylines away from her with their work, friendships etc. So, in some ways, I guess it depends on what you mean by wanting to see more of them. Them just being around, in the background, yes, certainly. Them having storylines centred around them, no, not really. But, because of the difficulties involved with child actors, having to pay chaperones, them speaking up when they're not supposed causing retakes to name two, they won't use them unless there is a specific need storyline wise.

Well that was a prime example of what I was talking about.
After months, Denny appears at a normal breakfast scene and we're told what he's been doing during the holiday. So, just there in a family scene as a child would be in real life.
But then, he becomes a plot point. He's been bullying again, Sharon goes into defence mode, "he's easily led, doesnk( make him a bully" and asking Whitney to cover it uo. Just as ian and Jane have been doing with Bobby.
So, he was only there as a catalyst for the plot, not just because he is a child who would be visible in his own home.
That's my whole problem with the kids in British Soaps.

The kids in EE, anyone under the age of 15 add nothing to the show, they should just be in the background walking through on their way to school. Most of them have 666 on their foreheads.

Rosie and Sophie in Corrie were excused for about 10 years apparently playing in their rooms. They emerged eventually when they'd grown up enough to have actual story lines of their own.
