Lets be honest none of the ratings are outstanding but I suppose you have got to take into account this is 2023 and not 1986 and the TV landscape is very different, but Christmas TV is stale and needs something to gee it up, like another Gavin and Stacey?

CS and Emmerdale seem to be dying a slow death.

They shows a repeat of Michael Parkinson's last show which featured Billy Connolly. Billy ironically has the disease Parkinson's but I think it is slow as he has done a few 2023 interviews and seems with it, he is slightly shaky but can still speak well and his new book Rambling Man was published recently. If anyone watches 2 Doors Down which is a Scottish comedy show they did their last episode of the 7th series all about Billy Connolly. Well him and all the nonsense that we would expect from this show. Sadly one of the main writers died this year at a very young age. LOVE this programme. Didn't come across it until lockdown but I've now watched all of them several times, it's like comfort TV to me, Ialways go back to it. Such great characters.

Watched the latest Christmas Agatha Christie, Murder is Easy, on BBCI Player. No effing and jeffing this time, with a Nigerian diplomat replacing the retired police officer who is informed by an elderly lady he meets on a train, didnt recognise Penelope Wilton in a very short role, that murders have occured and he goes on to investigate. It wasn't bad but didn't really capture the essence of the time I didn't think and lacked the charm of the Joan Hickson ones. Worth a watch though if there is nothing much else on.

I watched it and thought it OK too. It's from one of Christie's lesser known books. It was all filmed in Scotland and the village of Wychwood under Ashe is actually Tyninghame a village a few miles from where I live in East Lothian. I thought it did capture the essence of the 50's with everyone staring at a man of colour walking around their village. You have to remember that Christie wrote most of her famous books in the 20's, 30's and 40's although she was still writing up until her death in 1976. I also meant to say did you recognise Douglas Henshall (Jimmy Perez) as the Major?

Any good TV shows on at the moment worth watching ? Criminal series and such ? Everyone's banging on about that Mr Bates and the Post Office at the moment... It's a dramatisation of a recent true life corruption within the Royal Mail... We've not watched it yet but are planning to binge watch after we finish The Crown... It's on ITV X if you can access that...

There was also a follow up documentary featuring the real people. That was sad. They are still affected by the events.
