It was a really enlightening drama and definitely worth a watch. I'm sure a lot of folks weren't aware of the pain and anguish those sub postmasters went through and for some still going through. What's the bets that this sorry tale gets tidied up more swiftly now and compensation is paid out now that it's more in the public domain.

I think this is already happening wallis and hopefully they will take away that woman's MBE. I did try and watch it but for some reason ITVX was playing ep 4 as ep 1, and I got a bit confused with it. Anything with Toby Jones in is usually guaranteed to be good,

Any good TV shows on at the moment worth watching ? Criminal series and such ? Everyone's banging on about that Mr Bates and the Post Office at the moment... It's a dramatisation of a recent true life corruption within the Royal Mail... We've not watched it yet but are planning to binge watch after we finish The Crown... It's on ITV X if you can access that... Watched it last night . Brilliant. Can't recommend highly enough as it's all the more powerful for being true. I love that the power of this drama has kick started a criminal investigation. At last. Give these people their due. And strip that bitch Paula Vennels of her CBE. She either knew what was happening which is wicked or if she didn't know she wasn't doing her job properly so either way should never have been honoured. Alan Bates (hero!) has refused an OBE until she's stripped of her CBE.

I watched it including the docu. Wow, I got really angry watching it. How could anyone involved on the Post office or Fujitsu side sleep at night. Why has no one been prosecuted yet ? The Post office paying 130 million pounds so far is just using tax payers money but the criminals in all this got away with it. This is so bloody wrong. I'm still angry.

I'd like to shake the hand of whoever commissioned this drama because this has been going on for nearly 20 years with just the odd Panorama doc etc drawing attention to it when it should have been the main headlines but this excellent drama has finally done the job of exposing the vile behaviour of the PO, their bullying and the miscarriages of justice.
I knew about it but when they effectively won their court case and then had many convictions expunged I assumed that they'd be properly financially recompensed for everything they've been through. What a fool I was! It's taken a drama to show us the reality and that's shameful of our press and media isn't it?
Was it not of too much interest because it was just happening to the little people and we don't matter?
EDIT: forgot to say that Alan Bates and his partner were on This Morning today. Richard Branson has gifted them a holiday on his Necker Island and I saw something about a 7 day cruise, can't remember if that was gifted by him too or someone else but I'm sure I saw Virgin Cruises on the photo. Well done. They were quietly delighted and had tears in their eyes. Couldn't happen to better people.

Surely any CEO worth their salt would immediately order the top IT specialists to investigate the Horizon system instead of blithely insisting it was ā robustā ? That would be the first port of call when no discrepancies were ever found when the employees books always balanced when done manually, as stated in the TV programme by one sub post mistress. When hundreds were found to be supposedly defrauding the PO surely alarm bells would ring? They canāt all be āat itā ? Totally unrealistic. So much could have been done to support them not least investigate the IT system.
It took one of the little men like Alan Bates ( his words) to work like a terrier for 20 years to expose the truth . What happened to ā innocent until proven guiltyā ?
What a pointless post this is as I am just stating the obvious and stating what the whole world thinks. I hope she gets prosecuted . Stripping her of the CBE is just not enough. She left the PO and got a top job in the NHS but didnāt last long there. I hope no one employs her ever again. She has blood on her hands evermore.

The PO computer roll out was, at the time, the biggest and most expensive in Europe. I think they thought that this computer could never be wrong, it was infallible. That these postmasters/mistresses must have been fiddling the books for years and this software found them out. I don't think for one moment they put their trust in their employees and gave them the benefit of the doubt even after some had unblemished careers going back decades. They probably thought Fujitsu was worth the money as it had uncovered a lot of fraud. Patting themselves on the back for making these people pay back what they 'stole'. Right, Vennels is handing back her CBE. Now how about the was it 3 or 5 million she got as a bonus? Yeah missus, we'll have that back too thank you.

Will someone please listen to the On The Beach ad. Iāve listened over and over and I am sure they use the F word in the song. I cannot think what else the word is.

It does sound like the F word but it sounds like "Bo-kking geniuses".
Like the "Play The Funky Music" song by Wild Cherry, people who are hard of hearing may mishear the funking.
Same as fracking, sounds like a Cockney swearing.

I stopped the Fast Forwarding during the Ad's last night, Loup when I saw a flash of OTB just so I could have a listen... It's fecking Paddy McGuiness isn't it...? I wish he'd feck off and I've heard he's doing a remake of Bullseye which I was so looking forward to... But now it's him presenting it I'll probably give it a swerve... Anyway after listening a couple of times it is Booking... But it's been carefully edited and the first part of the B has been sliced... So essentially what you are hearing is Ooking but with an Uh sound just before it... Making you stop and listen and then probably rewind so you hear it again... Clearly a clever marketing ploy to get you to remember OTB next time you are thinking of booking a holiday... How they got away with it is beyond me... I'm no prude but I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints to the Advertising Standards Agency before it's pulled... But not before it's raked in a shed load of money for OTB...

Anybody else watching the 2nd series of The Traitors? I'm totally addicted and when the episode is over I turn over to BBC2 to watch The Traitors Uncloaked. OMG yes! Required viewing in our house, we were gripped last year too. Absolutely love it. I think the Traitor's have been much more entertaining and dastardly this year and got to admit that I smiled at the roundtable result last night. Put in spoilers just in case {Spoiler} Paul was a brilliant Traitor but was so smug he had that exit coming! Noticed Harry is starting to get a little bit big headed too, perhaps Andrew can settle into the role, stop looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights and take him down? The look on Harry's face would be priceless! But Harry would definitely deserve to win, he's played a great game.
