Is it...? Is it really...??
I just think it's going through a low patch... And it will pick up again fairly soon...
Yes some of the comedy gold moments are not gold... Neither are they comedy to some degree...
I'm hearing that it's all Ian McCloud's fault... But before him it was all Kate Oates' fault... And before her it was all Stuart Blackburn's fault...
But surely they are taking directive from someone higher...?
When do you think this all started... When do you think it will change for the better... Should they be bringing in new characters... Or re-introducing old characters from yesteryear...
Why have the younger generation all upsticks and left... Is there a behind the scenes coup going on... Or is all just coincidental...
Lets have your thoughts here guys...

I believe the young crowd are leaving because they think they are badly paid compared to the older cast, and have to work a lot more hours for that lower salary. They also have this idea that they can make megabucks endorsing tat on Twitter/Instagram but the bosses blocked it, but they feel aggrieved that they have to be seen endorsing brands associated to the Street (Costa/Co-op et al) for no extra dollar. They have this false illusion that if they leave they will get showered with endorsement deals but I think those offers will dry up because they will then be “ex” soap stars.
I have this theory with soap that you either stay for 2 years or 20, for some it’s where they want to be, and for others it’s a stepping stone but sadly only a small % of Corrie cast make it big once they’ve left. Now that doesn’t mean they were rubbish, a great many carve out a good career in theatre but for some people good means £££/America.
Where do you draw the line? When did Corrie change so much from its classic formula? That’s a toughie. Some say it’s 1989 when they moved to three episodes and had to increase the cast to fill the extra 30 mins, some say it’s ‘97 when Brian Park took over and other say it’s more recent than that.
Even some of the older former cast that are remembered fondly were new once and might not have been universally loved from the start.
Also I don’t think there’s any bad actors in the show, but some of the material they have to work with is tripe.

I think ITV know full well that Emmerdale is a threat to Corrie and will try to stop that.

I believe it's gone beyond a crisis now. The thing is, they refuse to listen to their fans. When the fans say there is too much Gemma, they add even more episodes with her centre stage. And they wonder why so many actors are leaving. It must be a terrible working environment there.

Iain MacBollox is a total tool.

Tools are useful - unlike McBollox. He's neither use nor ornament as my Mam used to say. The sooner he is gone the better.
It really wouldn't surprise me if the cast hates his guts too.

Why does Frieda use sign language to people who can hear?

Some even say the change started in 1983-1984 when so many iconic characters left in the space of a year and a half. Eddie, Annie, Len, Albert, Billy, Fred, Bert, Elsie and Stan.

Not a fan of Ian Mc doo dah, but like Charley said after so called high profile celebs like O'Grady and Parky criticising the show under Kate Oates wanting lighter funny humorous scenes ITV has instructed Ian to do this, but it has backfired badly. Kate Oates is having the last laugh right now, the pressure making her leave as producer early, she may not have been every bodies cup of horlicks and i did criticise her myself, but she left the show in a better place than it is now.
It is not the fact there are lighter storylines, I am all for humour and lighter scenes I prefer that over the dramatic scenes but Corrie has lost the knack of doing these scenes, it is truly awful and an insult to the viewers. When Corrie get it right they are untouchable. It can be turned around but as Wendy says they need to start listening to the fans before it is to late.

Apart from a few cast members I think the acting in CS in inferior, sometimes just bloody awful and a sin to be used in ITV's flagship.
I agree with Chas that the EP's over the years are taking directive from higher ranks yet they are the ones getting the blame.
They try to tackle topical human issues which for whatever reason they don't see through in the way they should do. I don't mean to compare or I'll get shot down in flames but the knife crime storyline in EE wasn't brilliant but it kind of ended with the amazingly filmed funeral scenes which most viewers thought were the pinnacle of the story and actually hit home. CS never actually manage to do this.
Take Aidan's suicide for instance. Yes we heard Gail's poignant monologue which was very good but apart from that and the wailing of Kate the story never really came to a natural end in order to get the message over IMO and I could go on but I won't.
I still think that 6 episodes a week is too much for those on the lower end of the salary tree and I include the crew in that. It has to have an impact on quality and that has been reflected on some of the rubbish that is being churned out.

In the 1990s I remember when Corrie, Emmerdale and H&A were ITV's Big 3 soaps. And they were watchable. Today, one has been shifted to Ch5 and the other 2 keep upping the ante. CS, ED and H&A are very OTT compared to 1989 when they were everyday soaps. The Battersbys, Dingles and Braxtons arriving played a huge part in their declines.

So after tonights shenanigans... Do you think they are lining Ted Robbins up... To come back a Brendon...?
I hope so... I thought his character had legs...
