In February next year, it will be 30 years since Phil and Grant arrived, and the family later became the EE answer to the Dingles, the ever expanding family.
I am sure it must be 30 years around now that Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden were being considered for the part. I guess they begun filming in very late 1989 or early January 1990.
I am sure Ross' role in Emmerdale as a young soldier 3 years earlier helped him win the role of Grant Mitchell.

Currently rewatching Classic Eastenders and it’s weird to see how they started out. Phil was quite reserved with his violence, only using his brawn when he really had to and often finding himself bailing out Grant.
Peggy #1. Hmm she’s a real Eastend fishwife, or widow in her case. Never even married Kevin, who seemed there to just do her bidding. Having read the backstory it seems that he and Peggy were “at it” for years, paused when Eric died and then they resumed it after the funeral. No wonder the kids hated him. When Babs took over the role, Kevin was quietly dropped and when Peggy dated George Palmer she said she has not had a serious relationship since Eric, clearly even Peggy never took him seriously!!

Also at Peggy's birthday party once, they used pics of Babs' Peggy as a kid, totally erasing the Jo Warne version of 1991 where she was a big lady, had slicked back hair and was about a foot taller than Bab's Peggy.
By 1994 Peggy had shrunk by a foot and slimmed down.
