You folks need to watch The War of the Worlds on BBC... it's good!
I was expecting it to be a boring period piece, but it is better than I thought it was gonna be. The spinning ball sequence was so cool.
A more down to earth take on science fiction. None of that silly flying saucer nonsense like you get in American movies all the time.

I can always rely on My Wallis to be watching. Let us know your thoughts on the episode when you watch it! Looks like a good start so far. I like the visuals as well. Good to see Robert Carlyle in this. I've always liked him and enjoy when he pops up in movies and TV dramas. The ginger actress from Poldark is good too.

Watched the first two now and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it as Sci-fi isn't really my thing but because there's plenty to keep me gripped, lots of human dramas. And the special effects aren't too shabby for a TV production either. They modernised it but that's to be expected, they do it with every drama that began as an old book.
Like you I was happy to see Robert Carlyle, don't see enough of him on telly. Also Rupert Graves who I usually enjoy (and used to fancy years ago in The Forsyte Saga lol!). And I actually think that the lass from Poldark (Eleanor something?) is the strongest actor/character and is holding it together. Rafe Spall is always worth the admission fee too, the cast is very good overall.
One more episode to go. If I'd known it was only 3 parts I've have kept them to binge in one night.
