Sadly Major Ingram helped make the new drama show based on The Major Fraud, so it will be very pro Charles Ingram, to try and make him look innocent. Chris Tarrant said so on TV this morning.

Been looking forward to this three parter for a few weeks now... Definitely giving it a watch... Tarrant's only annoyed that he got one over on him... Can't stand the jumped up twat...

Jacko was a child fondler, Ingram was a cheat, Whittock was a cougher on the right answers.

I enjoyed this although the Major seems to be being portrayed as a bit of a patsy, Mr Nice but Dim.
Never liked Chris Tarrant, far too full of himself.

Not a fan of Tarrant either, and he was totally fooled by Ingram that night.
Tiswas was before my time but from clips I have seen, he was a pratt then.

We here at Chez Chaz enjoyed it too... In fact a bit of a groan went out at the end... So really looking forward to tonight's instalment...
I did wince when I saw his telephone bill... It was all a bit of a rip off wasn't it back in the day...? Not until the Ant and Dec phone vote scandal did it become more regulated...
I worked with a guy back when this was first on... Trevor was his name, a nice older joiner... But he was obsessed with getting on the programme... I dread to think how much he spent on phone calls to get on to Fastest Finger First...
The syndicate thing was quite eye opening... And how, if you wanted to give away a 25% share of your winnings... You could use them as a Phone-a-Friend... Just goes to show that even in the White Middle England there are always greedy bastards...
And Diana's brother... Making the FFF replica machine to practice on was amazing... Along with all his charts and algorithms to try and enhance his chances of getting to the chair... Just goes to show what some people will do to get a bit of fame and fortune...
Are you listening Trevor...? Boring the pants off everyone in the brew room... About how he didn't get selected yet again... They, Calador and ITV must have been raking it in... There was and still are lots of Trevor's in the world...
And remember this was all around the time of the birth of the main stream WWW as we know it today... How times have changed in such a relative short space of time... Frightening...
And I'd just like to add... I never once picked up that phone to call that premium rate number... I couldn't afford it...

If the fraud happened now, and we heard coughing in the FFF, wed think one of the FFF contestants has coronavirus, and would have to evacuate the studio.

I watched it and very much enjoyed it even though it was slightly too biased towards Major Charles and Diana who to this day protest their innocence.
Major flaw to me was that it didn't include the prosecutions summing up which always comes after the defence's. Apparently the prosecution's was a stonker, absolutely brilliant bringing all the strands together and proving almost without a doubt that they were guilty and the jury agreed even after they'd heard the hot shot defence barrister's excellent turn. But no sign of it on this production and I have to ask why? Surely the very speech that got them convicted should have been included? Looks to me like someone isn't convinced of their guilt and deliberately left it ambiguous. But it's a drama not a documentary so I suppose they can spin it any way they want.
I must say that I found the part where everyone in court got an attack of coughs very funny and if I hadn't known that it was true would have thought it was artistic licence!
The history of how the show came to be was interesting, especially their (correct) assumption of human nature being what it is people wouldn't gamble if it meant losing large amounts of money so they'd very rarely. if ever, have to pay out the million. And of course as Chas says above, how they'd absolutely coin it in on the phone calls which all seems grubby now but I never thought twice about it at the time.
Kudos to Michael Sheen though. What a character actor he is. I've seen him portray Kenneth Williams, Tony Blair, David Frost, Brian Clough and now Chris Tarrant and he's been totally convincing each time.

Major Ingram is 100% guilty, you only have to watch the broadcast version and the documentary from 2003 to see he is as guilty as sin. I stopped watching Quiz after Episode 2 as it was too biased in Chazza's favour. He is a smug git as well.
