Well that was superb. Carmichael is bent and in on it i think. When does James Nesbitt make an appearance? Series 7? 1 left.

I am half Scottish grew up in Edinburgh and went to school there for many years and I was shocked to discover that Adrian Dunbar (Hastings) wasn’t Scottish but Irish!

I was gobsmacked when I heard Martin Compson speak in his own accent! An hour to go, can't wait! Breaking the habit of a lifetime and watching something live for once. Who is 'H' - some are speculating Kate but I doubt it. If it's Ted Hastings it will literally break my poor heart in two

I was going to leave it before I posted as my overwhelming reaction to that was feeling a bit underwhelmed. I get where Mercurio was coming from - the people who care are being marginalised and silenced and corruption is taking over (nice metaphor for our government and Trump's!) but it just left the series finale feeling a bit flat. Is it wrong that I at least wanted something exciting like a car chase? A glass wall being shot a la series 3 when Cotton's time was up? A longer and more intense interrogation of you know who? Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it and it's probably more realistic this way. Perhaps when I re-watch and know what's coming I'll pick up on things I missed and appreciate it more? Putting this in spoilers just in case anyone's looking but hasn't watched yet {Spoiler} My fella Hasting's never let me down though and was honourable to the end! Loved his speech to Carmichael and also confessing what he'd done.

So Buckells was the fourth man. I didn't think he was bright enough. Maybe it was built up too much, but i felt a little let down with the ending. Carmichael seemed to be softening in this episode. A lot of criticism of this episode on other forums. Will there be a 7th series? I am sure the Beeb would like one, but that is up to Jed Mercurio.

It's had huge ratings so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 7th series - if they can talk Mercurio into it.

Buckells wasn't as dim as we thought with his double life. There are still some unanswered questions though because if he was just the communicator whose bidding was he doing? OK so the OCG broke into splinter units if he is to believed but I still think Osborne is knee deep in this and Carmichael is questionable too. I'm glad the threesome made it out alive and Ted has challenged his retirement. Hopefully there will be a 7th series.

The show peaked at 13 million in the overnights, i can see it consolidating to well over 15 million. It was a good night for the channel with Call the Midwife and the News rating highly.
I think Mercurio said we will get a second series of Bodyguard soon, so perhaps after that he may look at series 7 of LOD. Fingers crossed.
