Anyone watch this new series last night? I don’t usually like 2 hour episodes, bit like a marathon for me, but like this because it is set in Northumberland where I used to live and love the locations and scenery. Back to the story…….it was good but so many characters I got a bit lost especially at the end when she uncovers the guilty one. A lesser character , so much so that I had forgotten who he was and why he would murder the victim. I remembered him only by googling at the end. Any help anybody ?

I love Vera. Recorded it to fast forward through the ads, watched the excellent Vigil on BBC One, will watch Vera later in the week.

Police TV dramas are even longer if you watch them via DVD or Britbox! They glue the whole lot together and before you know it you’ve watched 3-4 hours of television!
Some of the stories in Cracker were originally split into 3 episodes of roughly 80 mins each. Too easy to sit there and watch the lot in one sitting!

Not sure how old Vera is but she must be about 70. Always the case in cop shows, cops can work years beyond their pension age. Barnaby, Frost, Morse.

I thought this was up to the usual excellent standard with twists and turns and red herrings. If you record it you can whizz through the ads which makes it about an hour and a half long. I guessed whodunnit as its always the one who seems the least likely.

Another good episode on Sunday, although that's it for the time being unfortunately. Did anyone recognise Gennie from Emmerdale and of course good old Mick from Brookie.

Oh didn’t realise only two. Shame.
Having said that I did find the guilty one rather implausible. .

I don't mind Vera but it's the same format for every episode.

It has been good, Endeavour back this week. I struggled with Endeavour. I find it so boring. The characters, Endeavour and Thursday are so dull and lifeless and the story can be told in an hour, not two.

I don't mind Vera but it's the same format for every episode. Agreed 1-somebody dies 2-Vera makes some catty comments and drives a Land Rover around “Geordieland” 3-Kenny does a lot of the legwork and gets almost no thanks (why is he still a DC taking order off student-aged Detective Sergeants?!) 4-some more sardonic words from Vera 5-end credits.

You missed out Vera's conversation with the pathologist.

Stories a bit more meaty than Endeavour which I have given up on. One of my drama students was in it last night.

I do watch Endeavour as its something to watch on a Sunday evening but to my mind its not a patch on Morse, and he is not even like him, a bit of a bumbler when Morse was nobody's fool, don't recall Morse being a smoker either when Endeavour is often puffin away. Thursday who is a big influence in Endeavour's life is not even mentioned in the far superior Morse series.
