On Twitter, David Clencie, who played Danny Ramsay in the 1980s, says the new Neighbours is rubbish and nothing like 1985-2022 Neighbours. He even used to slate the later years of 1985-2022 Neighbours.

Seen a couple of the new episodes on Freevee and sadly I have to agree, not going to continue to watch, too glossy now and comes across as a yanky soap and has lost it's charm. Plus the character turnarounds with Toadie and Terese getting married is odd and wrong.
It's a shame they brought it back as it ended on a high with a perfect, beautiful ending with relatively high ratings.

I feel the show returning is a damp squib and will probably be axed after the 2 year contract is up.
Like Only Fools & Horses should have ended for good in 1996, Neighbours should have ended for good in 2022. Both shows just should have been put to rest forever while on a high.

There’s been glimmers of the old show in places but I am irritated by the fake drama, first we had the hype of why Jane was so non committal to Mike which turned out to be something he’s not phased about, and then the “What’s wrong with Harold?” and it turns out he’s on the wrong meds, which Karl missed (is he even certified to be a doctor anymore?!) and the new doctor spotted almost immediately.
Jumping 2 years when it’s only been 14 months hasn’t landed well as viewers just don’t get it.
With the new family, is the non white wife grooming the butch one cos she looks about 20 years older! No way she’s the mother of one of those teenage lads 😆
I’m already skipping through episodes because it’s not enthralling me.

4 weeks in 28 episodes and some fresh irritations.
Time-I thought given its 4 episodes a week, that they would progress at such a speed that we would catch up with their timeline but they are racing along. In the space of one month (real time) they’ve moved along 3 and it’s still 3-4 months until a Christmas apparently. This is ridiculous and will mean they enter 2025 before we reach 2024!
Jane vs Terese.
This has felt very hammy. Jane, who is usually so passive and caring has become so entrenched in her position. She’s been Head for 5 mins of a school she’s had little to do with for the past 30 years. Also the “50 years” is woefully wrong, school was opened in 1949, so we are talking more like 75 years.
Terese I can’t gauge. Her project for a decent retirement village is a laudable one and it’s a shame she couldn’t get it done at the other location seeing as it’s not exactly over developed. But she has been sneaky trying to get people on side and it’s just splitting the street up. Also I’m very confused about her name, as Jane insists on calling/referring to her as Teresa but I can find nothing online to suggest that is her proper name and everyone else says Terese.
Reece-finally we are getting somewhere here. Is it an American TV melodrama thing to stretch out the storyline so it’s months before we know what’s really going on, and the work associate, she’s so artificial it felt like she was blue screened in for those scenes!
Noticed her clocking the photo of Jim Robinson on the desk. That’s very interesting.
Loving the fact Lassiters compiles so much data and leaves it in folders in unlocked rooms and offices.
Karl and Susan making up after 2 days of contemplating their future and then him jumping on a train holiday with Harold smelt a bit funny, presumably Alan is off touring!
Vaga-Murphys; Growing on me, but I’m still trying to work out why they’ve cast Cara as a much younger woman, she’s clearly about 32-35 playing a parent of 2 teenage lads.
Would I be right in thinking that Remi is biological mother of Dex but not JJ. JJs father is probably Andrew but I’m not convinced Cara is old enough to be the mother? It’s all very unclear and when he said that he used to be from Werribee too, how come neither Remi or Cara even picked up on it.
Finally the house share; Byron, Mack, Haz et al. How does that work? Who owns it? Can they afford to live there, is that realistic?

I still feel that H&A will become the longest running continuing drama in mid 2025, as Neighbours was off air for over a year, and it has left a huge gap in the show duration.
I find the new timeline of Neighbours very hard to follow. The Only Fools And Horses timeline has been hard to follow at times, such as Rodney and Cassandra married on 25 Jan 1989 according to the wedding certificate, but in the Jolly Boys Outing, which was likely set in late August 1989, they had their first anniversary that month, which means Little Problems was set in August 1988 even if shown 12 Feb 1989. This is at odds with the timeline of Dates and the Jan and Feb 1989 series which clearly has songs in the background which were released in late 1988 and early 1989.

The other thing that amuses me is that the boss of Neighbours Jason Herbaceous Border 😂 used to be the Aussie Soap reporter for one of the TV magazines, and I think it just gives hope that no matter what dead end job you’re doing, with a bit of luck you can end up producing the 2nd best long running Aussie soap on TV 🤣

I have only ever watched the 2 main Aussie soaps. Prisoner and Number 96. Joke, no Neighbours and H&A of course.
