I know people don't like the Carters but which Carter's would you keep if you were EP? Also they aren't too bad its just their screentime that needs reducing and the Linda storyline that needs to end but I think people are forgetting that there have been some really good Carter episodes like the episode when Linda told the police what Dean did to her and Dean told Shirley his version of events with Linda that was gritty kitchen sink drama and the episode when Linda got raped again that was gritty kitchen sink drama because the focus was on Linda and if the focus wasn't on Mick/Shirley/Buster/Dean and just on Linda then it would be much better like it was in those two episodes and when Stan died it was good drama in his death episode. As long a the acting is good of Kellie and Danny and Linda are really good then does it really matter? Please watch this episode and these clips which shows are good at drama: www.dailymotion.com/video/x2f...ary-20-2015_tvwww.dailymotion.com/video/x2d...ber-26-2014_tv

I'd actually keep all of them except Dean who much as i used to like, don't see how they can keep on as a long term character as a thoroughly unrepentent rapist.
I don't have any basic objections to large families in the show and think they all have potential as individuals. Even though I despise Shirley, I do think she is interesting and has a place in the show. Lee is the weakest but he does have potential and we're rather lacking in males of that age so.
There is nothing wrong with any of them, they just need to be put on the back burner some of the time.

I agree, we need closure with the Dean storyline and that means he has to depart either through prison, death or being sectioned. If they are going to continue this storyline up till Christmas I don't want months of repetition. Although I do wonder what would happen if Dean raped again or if someone at least claimed he had raped them. I think ink they have thrown far too much at them in such a short space of time. There is nothing wrong with them as a unit, although some characters are weaker than others. The issue lies in the fact they are at the forefront of practically every episode these days.

I'd definitely get rid of Dean. Everyone else can stay, providing they never overwhelm the show again. That's not to say never give them a storyline, merely that the writers need to realise when they've been neglecting other characters for so long. I do like the Carters, all of them (well, not ALL, but certainly Mick's family, including Tina). I just think we need a nice long break from them.

I like MDA's portrayal of Dean-without-the-o and he could have been a great long-term character but then they went and made him a rapist and much as I would have liked them to somehow find a way to keep him in the show, with the way Dean's side of the story has subsequently played out the character is just dragging the rest of the family down now.

One of the worst and most difficult to believe families in soap.
