Just read about the TFI Friday one off special that's on C4 at 9pm Fri. First I'd heard about it. TFI was deffo one of my favourite shows when it was on back in the 90s. I was a teen then and loved the daft features like 'Ugly Bloke' as well as the interviews and live music. I liked it when Shaun Ryder was all sweary and C4 got in hot water I believe he's a guest on the special (lifetime ban lifted). I think it may be difficult for them to match the buzz of the original shows, they definitely captured the zeitgeist of the time. But I'm still looking forward to giving it a watch as a bit of a nostalgia trip. Anyone else planning to watch? Anyone used to like it too?

Me too, can't wait! I was a damned sight older than a teenager though but only in my early thirties (seems young to me now lol!) but loved TFI and used to watch it religiously. The Brit-pop vibe and the optimism in general around that time was fantastic and to me the music has really stood the test of time - a bit like Chris Evans! Got very excited when I saw on itunes there's a TFI album, some of those songs brought floods of memories back Mind you I get enthusiastic about the 'The Tube' which was from my later teenage years and filmed in my city so it was all very exciting! Still have an affection for Jools Holland to this day because of The Tube (note: affection not fancy lol!) so I can fully understand folk looking back fondly at TFI, your teenage/early twenties years are special IMO. (sidenote: saw Jools on my birthday last month with special guest Marc Almond - dream nostalgia night as I'd always loved Soft Cell!)

You just summed it up there Lotts, the optimistic vibe of the time shone through. A good era I think. Used to love when they played that bit of an Ocean Colour Scene song when the guests were coming on. There's not really anything similar on TV now is there, music show-wise. I chuckled how you put the disclaimer about not fancying Jools Holland! Haha, doesn't his husky Barry White style deep voice do anything for you? He is very talented though to be fair.

Well, I enjoyed the show on the whole. Though I could've lived without the Lewis Hamilton bits tbh. Still better than any of the other Friday night entertainment shows in my opinion. I quite like watching stuff live. Liam Gallagher just gets more and more adenoidal doesn't he!
