Not a big fan but I used to enjoy this late on a Sunday night in the late 80s...

Confession time: I have the theme tune in my Apple Music library. I don't know how old you are Lady V but back in the late 80s / early 90s I bought this on vinyl for a girlfriend of mine at the time... She loved PCBH and it scored me loads of brownie points...
I think it even charted at one point...

I just recently started getting into PCBH again. Lizzie still remains my fave PCBH character. Followed by Bea, Chrissie Latham, and Meg Morris.

I`m now up to episode 556 of PCBH. My fave top dog Myra Desmond has just been killed. Anne Phelan was brilliant. She`s such a terrific actress, and will really miss her on PCBH. One of my fave screws Dennis Crookshank looks like he`s on his way out too. What a shame.

I used to watch this in the early 90s as it was the only thing on after I'd finished working my late shift - no 24-hour telly back then, no multi-channels, just a couple of hours "Night-time" on ITV - no internet either - just me, Bea Smith, a flagon of cider and a bong. Ahhhh, great days!
Got quite into it as well, I used to drive home like a maniac on the deserted roads at 1am so's I wouldn't miss the beginning. Many a time I'd plough through a countryside hedge whilst wondering who Lizzie would call a "rotten mongrel" tonight.
I always wanted someone to give Meg Morris a ruddy good thumping too.

Who was the prison warder who had a softer side...? Not that bitch who's name I also can't remember... But she had a face like a slapped backside...
No this one was quite cute if I recall rightly... Short blonde hair and a pert little arse...
Hmmm...

Meg Morris was it Charley? She`s the only prison officer that I know of that was blonde. Vera 'Vinegar T*ts' Bennett was a nice looking woman I thought. Yeah she was tough, but she had a softer vunerable side too. She wasn`t blonde though - she had dark hair. Even The Freak Joan Fergusen had a vunerable side. You didn`t see it very often but it was there.

Finally.....the Rita the Beater episodes I`ve been looking forward to in the episodes I`m watching (591). What a brilliant character she is. It was well worth the wait when she came into it. I almost started giving up on PCBH during the time the Barnhurst 5 arrived. It was only May and Julie that I liked. I couldn`t stand Willie at all. Now that they`ve all gone, PCBH has become great again.

Neighbours and H&A were then swimming with Prisoner castoffs.
