I am surprised Kieron Richardson didn't make the shortlist in the National tv awards. My 3000th post.

Love Hollyoaks so thought I'd resurrect this thread. Does anybody else think Celine McQueen's murder has been a bit pointless, and the waste of a good character with potential. Celine's not really had much to do apart from the sexual abuse storyline, in which Sarah George proved herself to be a good actress. The character also had potential, and was a nice character. Her relationship with Cameron (before he turned evil) was great, and one of my favourite Hollyoaks pairings! Her relationship with Jesse was also cute, and has potential. But then she died, and it felt very pointless - not only did it mean the McQueens were weakened, but not much (apart from Cleo's grief) has come of it. Porsche/Reenie aren't there to grieve, and not many of the other McQueens seem massively bothered, bar Cleo. Jesse was imprisoned for a few weeks. Cameron was caught two months later. Sure, Bart and Nana are returning/have returned because of it, but they could have returned for other reasons - Bart and Celine were never on-screen with each other so probably barely knew each other, why didn't Bart come back for Carmel's funeral instead etc? Overall it feels that Celine's death was just for shock factor. Bob, Sam, Danny, Ziggy, Lockie, Nico and Joe were enough victims for Cameron without Celine thrown in, and I think Celine could have been great if she was given more attention. Just my two penny's worth, obviously!

I think Hollyoaks Village is in fact Purgatory where the residents die and reincarnate over and over again for eternity. Only explanation for all the death that happens on this show.

It's a shame because Kirkwood does do some okay stuff (Jade's cancer, Jade in general, James Nightingale etc), but then it's bogged down with so much rubbish (the ending to Patrick's MND, the non-stop deaths, and now Joel being involved in Katy's death etc.). It's annoying because now there's no point getting attached to characters when you know they'll either A) be killed in a matter of months or B) have a complete personality change.

I do think Kirkwood is capable of some great storytelling when he bothers and I still regard his first stint as the Golden Era of the show. And you're right, he can still pull off some good stories, but it's outweighed by the rubbish. It's a shame. He's quite good with issue-led stories, but he's become very predictable and repetitive with his serial killer plots and non-stop infidelity. After the Gloved Hand Killer storyline, we needed a break from serial killers. Instead, we had more murderous characters like Nico and Cameron being shoved down our throats. And now he's bringing back Finn who no doubt will go on a killing spree as well! It's boring. Exactly (BIB). That's a problem. Not enough long-term characters. Everybody dies or leaves within a year or two. It's hard to get attached to anyone besides the long-termers like Darren, Nancy, Tony etc. I'm only interested in Warren right now.

Can't say I feel sorry for Harry, didn't he cheat on Ste with James? I would've liked Ste to mention that. James especially deserved to be cheated on after the way he went out of his way to interfere in Ste's relationship and chase Harry into bed (that was such a creepy plotline by the way). DS Byker Grove is stalking Leela, actually didn't see it coming even though it's very Hollyoaks-esque twist. No doubt Leela will start dating him, only for her to find out he's stalking her and swear off men forever.

Had to smile at the end of Fridays Hollyoaks when Nancy said she and Darren were going to have words, when Darren and Luke came in from the pub drunk. It was just the way she said it was so funny. I do like Darren and Nancy, they are a good Hollyoaks couple.
So is James telling the truth, did he spend the night with Harry?

That was bit of a shocker at the end of Friday's Channel 4 episode, when Darren came across Cleo.

I know most of you swerve this show, but I have dipped into it this week and it has been excellent. The grooming storyline with Buster. Ollie, Brody and Scott has been hard hitting, but so well acted and told. Gritty stuff Hollyoaks does well.

Apart from Roverman I don't think any of the rest of us watch this show. I couldn't cope with another one TBH! I find it hard enough to watch the big 3.

I know what you mean, depending what shift i am on, i end up just catching EE. i sometimes think i may ditch Corrie and watch Oaks instead. I think I am missing some good stuff on the show. Emmerdale and Corrie have too many ep's now.
