The Cock-Er-Knee Plastic gangsters in Layer Cake and Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells are utterly cringeworthy.

The worst VHS I ever rented was 'Beloved' with Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey in the late 90`s. The alternate name for it should have been "Roots Meets The Exorcist". After 20 minutes I rewound it and took it back. It was the only time I have ever asked for my money back. I didn`t get it though. Worst.film.ever I've always avoided 'Beloved', Wendy. Looked too grim. After reading your post, I'm glad I did.

The Cabin in the Woods was completely and utterly ridiculous. What was Joss Whedon thinking?! It's like a failed Buffy-esque movie, and a sham of a horror film! I couldn't even sit through the entire thing.

I also liked her in the Women From Brewster Place. At the beginning of the film, both Danny and Oprah were in a shack like building and a dead body flew into the shack and hit the wall. And it went downhill from there. Edited to add.....the film plot went downhill not the body

Ha! Ha! Ha! (Meant to add to Wendy's edited comment, but I didn't place it correctly.)

Captain Corelli's Mandolin. What a truly dreadful film hammily "acted" by Nicholas Cage. No wonder Louis de Bernieres washed his hands of it all and refused to be associated it. He must have realised its utter bilge This is why I am not going to watch the latest remake of Far From the Madding Crowd because I think it will be equally grim viewing

Speaking of remakes...what was that Poltergeist remake about? It doesn't hold a candle to the original. One of the worst remakes I've seen in a long time!

Jaws. The most boring film ever made, absolutely nothing happens! All you get is that music and a tiny fleeting glimpse of the shark right at the end. There is literally nothing else to it! Saw it once and was sorry I wasted my time watching it, goodness knows how it got the accolade it got smiley-huh . Lake Placid, which was probably meant to be a Jaws copy but with a crocodile instead of a shark, was much better!

I don't do horror films - I'm too much of a wimp.
As to Jaws I did find the other film of that genre, The Deep, a lot scarier, especially when that big moray eel thing grabbed the baddie bloke by the head and dragged him backwards into the wreck for his supper. The Jaws sequels were all terrible though, the monster fish becoming ever more ridiculous as the numbers were added to the title.

Oprah was excellent in the Color Purple..as was Whoopie.

That`s one of my biggest irks in films and tv shows Moz...remakes. I have yet to see a remake that is better than the original. But Hollywood still continue to churn them out.

Remakes are right up there with unnecessary sequels in terms of annoyance levels. The Ghostbusters remake hasn't come out yet, but you just know it's going to suck. Similarly, work is currently under way on the sequel to Independence Day. That movie was a classic, why are they tainting its memory with a sequel that nobody asked for?

Look how many sequels Disney have done, none are a patch on the originals. Then there's the ones that just milk something to death, like the American Pie series. The first one was brilliant, the following two weren't bad as they still had the original cast, but the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and however many more were absolute crap, none of the original characters and with nothing in common with the first three other than the film name. In my opinion sequels are nothing more than a way of getting extra pounds in the kitty when the company realise they've got a sure winner with the first one.

The only film with brilliant sequels in my opinion was Back to the Future 2 and 3. I would have loved to have seen a BTTF 4, but I think Michael J Fox had contracted Parkinsons Disease by then hadn`t he, and unable to film the heavy schedules as before?
