I have watched many episodes of Emmerdale, EastEnders and Home And Away's 1988 seasons. I was at first school in 1988 and can remember Emmerdale Farm and EastEnders. H&A was running in Australia from Jan 1988 onwards but not in the UK until Feb 1989. I love flitting between Walford, Beckindale and Summer Bay.
EastEnders 1988, like Emmerdale 1988, were very tame by todays standards. In March and April 1988, some of the biggest stories was Den Watts contemplating whether to sell the Vic, Ian, Darren and Rod hanging about like youngsters do, and Dot's sore neck and Amos and Henry spotting a Siberian Thrush in Filley Wood in Emmerdale Farm and Seth's Master Gardeners competition. Some EE and ED episodes in 1988 ended with Dot fainting at the sight of strippers and Seth being exposed as a cheat in the Gardeners competition. In 2015, it is more likely to be an explosion, dead body discovery or miscarriage that is a episode ending. How times have changed.
