With the return of The X-Files, I thought it was time we had a discussion thread discussing the show in general and reviewing the latest episodes.
I loved this show back in the 90s, but the quality became a bit crap by the latter seasons. I hope the new episodes is a return to classic X-Files.

Oh goodie. I just came in to set one up and there already is one!
I actually never got into this first time round - which is odd considering how much I like Sci Fi. Whenever i caught one I enjoyed it but I think I was just out too much at that particular point in my life and would forget to record it. After a few years i just felt I'd missed too much to pick it up.
I am planning on watching the new series, though oddly enough, I am out tonight! I've remembered to set the timer though!

Did you get around to watching Episode 1, Kitkat? I've been watching on US Pace, so I've already watched four of the episodes. It's been pretty decent so far. Nothing spectacular, but I've enjoyed it. Episode 1 is probably the best episode. Episode 3 is very funny! Episode 2 and 4 are okay. I'm hoping the quality is much better in the final two episodes - Episode 5 and 6. Just in case you're not aware, this series is only 6 episodes long. Back to Episode 1, I thought it was well-written and acted, all round very good. It felt like a return to form for the show. And I was very happy to see the return of the Alien Invasion storyline, which was always the most intriguing aspect of the show for me. Without spoiling anything, there is a nice twist in the episode! That's if you can understand all of the techno-sci-fi-babble thrown in. It was good to see Mulder and Scully again after all these years. They haven't changed one bit! Mulder is still a obsessive believer in the paranormal and conspiracy theories, and Scully is still the sceptical woman of science who tries to act as the voice of reason and as a counterpoint to Mulder. They very much have a ying/yang sort of relationship, which is good to see onscreen. I'd also forgotten that Mulder and Scully had a baby together in the old series! Yes, you read that right! They apparently had given the baby away! So it was good to see that being explored in the episode. Hopefully, I haven't spoiled too much there! All in all, a very good hour of television I'd say.

Enjoyed the miniseries, hopefully it returns with more in the future.
Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster was probably my favourite, I enjoy comedic things.
Home Again was also creepy.

I am close to finishing my binge watch of the original series (all nine seasons plus a film). Then I will move onto the second movie and revival series, and that will be me all caught up.
I have to admit I was skeptical to go into the eighth and ninth seasons, but I have been enjoying Robert Patrick as John Doggett.

I hope they finally resolve the Alien Invasion storyline. They've been stringing that out for too long! It's time they moved onto new storylines.
I wasn't too keen on those two young FBI agents who were meant to parallel Mulder and Scully in their younger days, so I hope they don't bring them back for Season 11. They looked way too young to be FBI agents.

I am interested though on how they follow up on that cliffhanger, but unless Chris Carter intends to bring it to a close I have a feeling they will find a way to keep the series going as long as they can.
