I don't know how popular they are on here, I know they're not very popular on DS, but I have always like Les and Pam, and been rather indifferent to Paul, although I am just starting to warm to him now. I was wondering whether tonight's tying up of the Christine story and a few heavy weeks concentrating on Ben/Abi/Paul, with the imminent return of Johnny due, would mean the departure of the Cokers (Probably the age old line of their stories came to a natural end). Paul really hasn't come to much but whose fault is that? I totally got the undertaker needing a lighter, fun side with the death of their own son triggering the Christine saga but I will feel rather let down if due to a lot of characters due to return they get axed to make room for some very old blood, Max, Lauren, Cora, Jordan, Johnny. I don't generally mind returns but it appears to me that DTC would like a larger cast, but the BBC don't have the cash and therefore old characters return and newer ones get the bullet??
What's you guys take on this?
I might be wrong but I do feel it's where we're heading

I hope this doesn't happen. I quite like the Cokers now. I'm rooting for them.

Id actually prefer it if Max, Cora and Laurn didn't return. Well not yet anyway, maybe in a few years time. I really want to see more Kazemis and perhaps another Hubbard or too.
I don't mind the Cokers, they are harmless enough but I wouldn't cry if they were to leave. I would say these three, Whitney, Lee, Sonia, Tina and Jack are the weaker cast members. Ronnie has become a joke so I wouldn't mind seeing her leave too.

There dull, fine as extras but I would not miss them if they leave, Paul is the same as Nancy a rather pointless character who just there but doesn't do much other then moaning and acting like a brat.

I think Paul and Nancy both suffer because they don't have friends. Paul hangs out with his grandparents and Nancy spent most of her time with her parents. They really need to put some focus on the younger characters,

They really need to put some focus on the younger characters, I agree, this has been one of DTC biggest failures, utilising his younger cast and basically casting them aside, I'm not talking Stacey's age group but the one between teen/young adult, we have a lot of 18-23 year olds doing nothing. The friendship groups are non existent, only the one that's sort of stayed is Ben/Abi/Jay because they grew up together and even that is pretty naff, they had to hire extras for Jay's birthday scene ffs , I actually find some of it so unrealistic, the real issues of that age group has been lost as well. Focus needs to be brought back to them I hope with the EP, I'm not talking excessive but just a right balance because it's such a shame so many decent characters/actors are suffering because of it, we need a bit of the Tiffany/Bianca days!

I don't care about Les, think Pam should be locked up for her murderous crimes, and absolutely despise Paul. He is a friendless creep who hangs around gurning at people from across rooms, and takes an incredibly unhealthy, almost perverse, interest in the sex lives of old people. I bet when Pam and Les come out of the bedroom in the morning he is standing the other side of the door, beady little eyes glinting out from between the straggly greasy hair, doing that creepy little smile and asking how it was.
Horrible, horrible Paul.
Thanks.

I have a sneaky feeling when the new Johnny returns, it won't belong before Paul goes.

I like Les and Pam a lot. I think they make brilliant B to C List characters on the show; they're interesting enough to carry the occasional storyline but they also work well interacting with the more 'important' characters (within the EE hierachy.)
Paul is terribly written and woefully underdeveloped but I don't *dislike* him; I just wish it wasn't so transparent what they brought him in to do. I do think that unless he has a major part to play in the ongoing Ben and Abi storyline, which seems unlikely with Johnny's return, or that SOC is planning on extending the Cokers, then he'll probably be written out at the end of his contract. I really hope the same won't be true for Les and Pam, but objectively speaking they're the obvious family to be written out if SOC wants to cut the cast down.
