There are plenty of empty houses/flats at the moment, so I'm not sure it's worth bringing in new buildings unless they don't bother including George Street on the new set. Although, as it's often stated that in reality a lot of the residents wouldn't be able to afford to live in Walford, maybe this could be their chances to add some run down council estate houses that characters such as Sonia and Tina could realistically afford.
Both Emmerdale and Corrie have factories, but are often called out for being unrealistic. So while I think it would be good for them to introduce new communal workplaces, I'm not sure whether a factory is the right way to go.
I pi would personally like to see them introduce some offices. Ian for instance could have an office for his catering business. In fact, I'd quite like them to introduce an employment agency. I'd also like to see an Estate Agents, Max Branning could work there. A facade for a nursery is another place I would like to see.
id also like them to introduce more workmen, such as an engineer or a plumber.
Then perhaps somewhere for the teens/young adults to hang out.

Some good ideas there Scrabbler. An estate agent is a good idea. Max could run it, MyLauren has a little bit of experience in renting flats too. Is Victoria Road part of the set? Where the 'other' cafe is? The buildings adjacent to that might be good spaces for other businesses - employment agency, or marketing firm. If the edges of Shoreditch are creeping in, then the whole area is crawling with small independent businesses and popup shops. Maybe if Jordan got his act together he could open or work in a small urban fashion shop, which might be a focal point for the younger cast as they recover from what Dom has done to them. The car lot isn't working, it has like 3 cars, and the fabled space round the back that didn't exist when the office was removed by David. They should turn it into a taxi office again, or get rid and use the space to build something else. I'd like to see a successful tradesman and family, perhaps a small time property developer. They could move into one of the nicer / bigger houses on the square, somewhere like Vincent's. Good opportunity to hide parts of the set build if the bloke gets work doing places up. They could credibly afford it - husband in the property trade, wife fairly senior in employment or estate agency type role, smoking hot 22 year old daughter for J-B to ogle

Maybe they could give Lauren a job which involves her artistic talents?

I hope they do include George Street, and use it. For the past few years George Street has been left out on a limb, hardly ever seen.
I find the recent additions to the current set such as the cop shop and Victoria Square very false and while they are meant to be a walk away from the square, you can tell they are behind the cafe.
The new set should really have more of a modern East End feel to it such as a Boris Bike stand, another foreign shop and a plush bistro. And a few road signs saying "Shoreditch" or "The A13 Docklands".

I read somewhere that they are supposed to be having a school or college, but I'm not sure if it is fact or speculation, but there definitely needs to be some interesting places for characters to meet up. I know the laundrette is iconic but in reality how many people really use these places in the modern world for anything other than dry cleaning?

There is a launderette a few units just down the road from where I work and you see them driving up in their cars with bags and bags of washing. It baffles me but there are still folks who use them.

My friend had to use one last week when his packed in. As I don't live far away from my family we usually help each other out if we have washing machine issues, but not everyone has that luxury. Still if if they are going to keep the Launderette I think they should utilise it more and not as a pop up restaurant.

I was thinking earlier that if they do build a High Street set, then they have to add Richie Scotts office even if it's just a facade.
