Is anyone watching Game of Thrones? Last season was a bit of a letdown for me, what with all the time spent on storylines that don't matter (Dorne...), but this one is shaping up really nicely. Every episode is moving the plot forwards in a meaningful way.
Can't wait for Bastard-bowl, most likely in episode 9, Ramsay makes Joffrey look like a good little boy. Loved his 'come and see' letter to Jon Snow in the latest episode, detailing exactly what he was going to do to Jon's eyeballs and sister.
Also, being murdered has done more for Jon's personality than the last 5 seasons. He's cracked multiple jokes already and it is unnerving.

Me! Oh The Bastard of Bolton, he's every bit as repulsive in screen as he is in the books, with his baby face masking his evil ways. He makes Joffrey look like Winnie the Pooh, the scumbag. I spent years watching Joffrey's antics, smug in the knowledge of the comeuppance heading his way. Same with Tywin Lannister, that was a death I couldn't wait to see translated to screen I am kinda liking not knowing what's coming now though.

I am kinda liking not knowing what's coming now though. Same here. It's refreshing to be way past book territory, less chance of spoilers. They couldn't be hitting viewers over the head any harder with the R+L=J foreshadowing, though. Will this be the season that the Starks stop being perpetual victims / whiny little sods? I'm done with them always being so 'woe is me': Bran permanently crippled by a bloke who was halfway through sex with his own sister, locked inside of a tree with Max Von Sydow. Arya being blinded by a religious cult and beaten repeatedly with a stick by the world's most miserable girl. Sean Bean was so honourable that he had his head chopped off. Sansa was mentally tortured by Little Lord Fauntleroy, married against her will to his dwarf uncle, rescued by a psychopath who murdered her aunt in front of her, then married to a bloke who fed his step-mother and newborn brother to a pack of dogs. The 'King in the North' was murdered at his uncle's wedding, his heavily pregnant wife stabbed to death through the stomach, his mother had her throat cut by his bannerman, and had his own wolf's head stitched onto his body in place of his own. Robb's wife was stabbed in the stomach whilst heavily pregnant, then they killed his mum. Jon was such a great Lord Commander that he was murdered in cold blood by his own men and the child that shot his girlfriend (#Olly)

I still enjoy the show - but these last 2 seasons aren't a patch on the first 3. GRR Martin lost the narrative thread - he wandered off on his merry way, too enamoured with his own creation of Westerosi and the world it inhabits, and everything just got bigger and more displaced & disjointed - introducing new parts of his world whilst completely forgetting to go anywhere with the story he'd already been telling.
The tv show has done a remarkable job cutting out large swathes of the books and keeping the core story moving along - but even at that, it now feels more like a soap where there are multiple storylines having to be told that don't actually interact with each other. The core story is crawling along at a snails pace as we spend time (sometimes needlessly) on places like Dorne, The Iron Islands, Bravos & Mereen - hell, we're even back in Vas Dothrak now!

Only started watching this a few months ago just to see what the hype is all about...
I'm currently up to Season 3. It's a good show - but way, way overrated. It is a bit like "Lord of the Rings After the Watershed" with tits and dragons.
Tyrion is my favourite character by far. I like how everyone calls him "the Imp", but he is the most cunning character on the show.
Jamie and Cersei Lannister are two of the most loathsome characters on the show for me and let's not mention the fact that they are siblings who are sleeping together.... (they remind me of Cain and Charity off Emmerdale). God, I hope they die a painful death... especially Jamie. Can't believe he got away with pushing little Bran Stark off a tower...
