Is that how much it costs? Is it for a charity? I don't want to meet them that much, there only soap actors after all. Some information what will happen on the day and why they are doing it: Come along and meet cast from EastEnders at the BBC Elstree bar. Have your photo taken, get their autograph and have a chat whilst raising money for a fantastic cause. Each meet and greet session lasts 2 hours, drinks and light snacks will be available plus some awesome free gifts!r. We have a limited number of tickets, so buy quick and dont forget to keep an eye on cast Twitter accounts for the full lineup and to check if your favourite will be there on the day! WHY WERE DOING THIS We're fundraising for a popular member of the EastEnders crew, who was diagnosed with a Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumour at the age of 28, whilst 20 weeks pregnant. "I was told to terminate pregnancy for an emergency operation to remove a tumour. I refused and got to 30 weeks. My son was born at 3lb10oz but was fine. I had the op two weeks after and was unsuccessful, all that was offered was chemotherapy. I had a lot of hideous chemotherapy and it did nothing, I was very ill throughout and then found out chemotherapy doesn't work on my sort of tumour. I then had private procedure to 'microwave' and kill the cells and was told it was successful, but it wasn't. There is nothing else this country can offer me - I am on injections to stabilise the size of tumour but they won't work forever. We researched so much and came across a surgeon in Germany who we have met with twice. He is 80% certain he can perform this operation and redirect the veins that caused such a huge issue in my first surgery. The operation alone costs nearly £30,000 and is extremely high risk but its the only way to remove it and live a full and happy life with my family" Initally only 1 operation was planned but unfortunately complications have led to more operataions being required. This means the hospital bill is ever increasing so please help us raise as much money as possible! Thankyou for your support. From the cast of EastEnders

Great cause but unrealistic for most of us mere mortals.

Makes my comments a little flippant and out of order. It is a very worthy cause and hope they raise a lot of money. But (A) I wouldn't be able to get time off work and (B) if it is around £200 I could not justify paying that amount. Are You going MM?

Without being too glib could the talent (Woodyatt, McFadden, Dean etc) not turn their pockets out and cover the £30k?!

Obviously not Roverman hence the call on the humble who will be daft enough to pay £200 a shot to meet the actors who are putting themselves forward for the event. Not all the cast are doing it by all accounts........ Why not just do a gofundme site like the one I posted for Stephanie Inglis. They tried to raise £250K and the fund is currently sitting at £281K. It can work just as well with people donating what they can.

It's like these adverts for charitable donations fronted by millionaire/billionaire actors asking ME for £30 etc because of the plight of the yellow footed beetle.

Exactly. I'm a bit peeved that they are standing there, whilst someone who works for them, probably not on a great wage, is going through the mill.

Leaving aside the issue of whether the cast could/should have stumped up themselves (and on that note i will point out they will be contributing their time, usually celebrities would be paid varying amounts of money for a PA) I don't actually think it is unreasonably priced for such an event. I used to reguarly attend Sci Fi conventions (organised a couple) and they are usually proced to a similar value. Admittedly that is for a weekend rather than a couple of hours but there is no one on one time included in that, if you want an autograph or photo and to actually meet them rather than just sit in a hall whilst they do a panel it is generally about 20 quid for each one - that quickly mounts up. Also no food or drink is included.
I'm not saying it is cheap, but it is competitive for this type of event. Like most things, luxury items cost and individuals have to decide whether one, they have the expendable income to pay for it, two, they think it is worth the money for the enjoyment they would personally gain from it and three, whether they want it more than another luxury (say a holiday) which they might no longer have the money for if they do this.

To that end, Iu won't be going as although I do think it would be quite interesting and isn't badly priced for what it is, it is not personally worth the giving up the things i'd have to to be able to comfortably afford it - like a weekend away with my husband in a nice hotel for instance.
When i was younger and had more disposable income and was single so didn't have to consider somebody else's wants and needs re 'treats' I would probably have done it, especially as it is within driving distance for me so i wouldn't need to fork out for accommodation.
