(Yes, I realise this is ironic given that I asked for an extra board to be created already ) Some of the boards here are a bit inactive, would it be a good idea to merge some of them so that we have fewer, but more active boards? It might help new members to engage if they see some more activity. I'd propose something like: Soaps - Merge all the 'classic' boards into their respective soap forums, so we're left with: Eastenders Coronation Street Emmerdale Aussie Soaps Other (HO, Doctors, Casualty, Holby, Pobol Y Cwm etc.) General Soap chat Remove the spoiler forums (threads could go into their respective soap forum, or the general soap chat) Personal preference but I would merge the 5 forums in the 'Other TV' into one. Movies board Music board 'Talk about anything you wish', and the 'general board' share a lot of subjects anyway, they might as well be one forum? Rant room threads could also go into one general board. Just some thoughts... though I know some people prefer having lots of smaller boards? Will leave it for our glorious leaders to decide or disagree.

I, too, think there are too many sections. I often miss stuff by not trawling though every section and come across them much later when they are not topical any more .It would be easier if there were fewer.

I agree, I think a pruning would be nice.

I don't think there are too many sections. There is one problem only and that is that there are too few people who make too few posts. Those people who do, have to wait hours or days to receive a reply or other interaction. The forum becomes slow moving and people end up losing the sense of what they were talking about, particularly those of us who indulge in humour as it needs to be a bit more rat-a-tat.
Just sayin' like. God bless.
Amen.

She kept the place buzzing about tales of life in France , was funny and very likable. I have been on forums with her for 10 or more years and she kept the place alive and was very popular.

Escargot was a daytime poster and never contributed anything of an evening. Many of us have jobs which prohibit us from posting during the day buy I agree with Mo on this one, I am happy with the sections.

I think it's fine for the most part, but maybe some of the soap subforums should be merged. I agree about merging General Board, Rant Room and Talk About Anything You Wish too.
The rest are fine IMO. The good thing about subforums is that it declutters the main forums and certain threads that are usually ignored/lost are noticed more by posters in subforums. Case in point, the Other TV forum needs subforums for this reason. I think separating UK and US TV into subforums is smart because a lot of US TV threads will get ignored in favour of UK TV threads, a US TV subforum means that won't happen.

Oh stop moaning all of you. Generally i find the conversations i have with myself are the most intellectually challenging and amusing I have all day. Plus I always agree with me. Well, usually....
Anyway, we are having a little chat over in that secret Mod place and there probably (though not completely decided) will be some collation/merging but also there are certain things we think work better separately, even if they don't seem to be used much.
Watch this space.
Re the activity of the forum, there are some threads which are a lot quieter since the Summer but that is partly because things like the Referendum have finished and to be honest, given how heated things were getting, that is not an entirely bad thing.
Yes, of course it is always a shame to lose members and those that interacted with them a lot will feel it acutely. But we have also had new members join (or in a couple of cases rejoin) and their contributions are very valued on the threads to which they contribute.
We have never been a huge board in numbers but the activity looked at from the overall Board rather than specific forums or threads has actually stayed pretty consistent for over a year - of course the first few weeks were the busiest as people were joining en mass and excited about the new 'shiny' thing.
