I did. Thought it was very good, but a few loose ends not tied up at end e.g. what was happening with that bloke being beaten up by his girlfriend? Would've liked to see a proper conclusion to that really.

I really enjoyed this series, the hour simply flew by each week, which is always the acid test of how engrossing a drama is.
I personally thought the MacKenzie Crook story was the best, helped not in the least by the fact he's so incredibly watchable. Loved the Sally Lindsay story too.
If I've any criticism at all though, it's that far too much time was devoted to Jo Joyner's rather unlikable character.
Despite having the least interesting story, which wasn't really "an ordinary lie" at all, unlike the rest, her character seemed to hog everybody else's week as well as her own. Then last night felt a bit like overkill, with almost the entire hour being devoted to it, when I'd have been far more interested in seeing it shared with the other story being played out, where the chubby chap was getting knocked about by his other half (as Amber Jade rightly said above).
Indeed had the writers not been so obsessed with Joyner, we could have squeezed in some of that other girl's story too, the one who looks like Kirsty out of Corrie.
So 8/10 for me, but it could easily have been a 9 or a 10 but for the unnecessary bias towards one character.
Looking forward to the next series.

Did you think Jo Joyner's acting was really good last night?

She's a very good actress MG, I just didn't think her "story" was that interesting mate.
It took up far too much of an otherwise excellent drama for me.
She can only act out the script she's given though, so I'm not having at pop at her. I just think the writers laid her character on a bit too heavy, when there were other interesting characters we could have discovered more about.
I didn't find her character particularly likable either, I found her hard to emphasise with when she was rude to pretty much everybody bar the bloke she was currently knocking off. Even the poor waiter last night was told to "Oh just go away" in a unnecessarily curt manner, when he asked her if everything was ok. Good manners cost nothing.
Again though, not her fault. My critisism was with the writers, not Jo Joyner.
But yes, I did think her acting was good last night, she is always very good if I'm being honest mate. I really can't say any different.

I agree with UQ, Crook's episode was by far the best. It was a bit of a slow burner really that started off a bit dodgy (thanks to the poor casting of Jason Manford...why? Was Will Mellor busy that week?) but grew into an interesting enough series. Not exactly appointment TV, but nice to relax with...and I loved spotting all the places I know round Warrington where the show is filmed.
Great to see Robert Pugh pop up in the final moments last night and steal the show too

There is another series being scheduled. I assumed there would be. There were too many things left hanging for them to just leave it at that. I thoroughly enjoyed the series but I do agree with Uncle Q that Beth's story was the least riveting although I ended up rooting for her and Max Beesley solely because I thought the returnee husband seemed a little dodgy - honestly thought he was going to deck her when he started smashing glasses and whatnot. I too would've liked to have properly seen Jason's story with his abusive girlfriend. I really felt for him when he broke down in the car last week; wanted to give the guy a big hug

Mackenzie Crook is class. Hope he'll be in the next series. Loved Sally Lindsay too - another great actress.
I quite liked Jason Manford in it! But his character was obviously a total wally.
Shame that mechanic left though in the episode he fell for the daughter - he was gorgeous!
JJ's character was a bit of a cow but JJ is a great actress (bar the "how's Adam" EE incident, hehe)
Really looking forward to the next series all in all :-)

I only say the last 3 episodes but really enjoyed it. I agree with UQ that Jo Joyner's character got too much screentime, but she acted it well enough to make an unlikable character watchable.
It was a shame Crook wasn't in the last episode, I was desperate to see him with a bashed in head after his wife (rightly) gave him a good thrashing and kicked him out. What a vile man, but Crook played it brilliantly.

We loved this too. A good bit of current drama. I hated Beth's husband, he'd have done better staying lost!

The 2nd series was much weaker than the 1st one.
