You haven't upset anyone LouP... Everyone's opinion is important and there is a place on here for sensible discussions... If you wanted to start a discussion about Deidre's Funeral, I'm all for that and I know that such a discussion on here would be taken seriously and it would be respected...
I opened the thread expecting to read some news on Deidre's Funeral but instead there wasn't any...
Ok, here you are. Peter Barlow is coming back for 2 or 3 episodes and it is classed as a funeral fit for a legend and handled with dignity and respect for that legend. " Peter" stated that he had worked with Deirdre for 15 years and had to come back, it was only fitting to do so. The production team worked closely with Anne's husband and family and they are pleased with the way it is being handled. www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/chris-gascoyne-returning-coronation-street-5576995And so it should be. I'll be livid if it involves any "Gail & Michael" type farce. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I trust the current Corrie team not to think it would be amusing to have scenes of Tracey fighting with someone graveside and falling into the hole. Not the time nor the place.

Not the time nor the place. I can't help sharing your fears here UQ. Why would a Corrie that has seriously gone off the rails forcing supposed comedy down our throats and killing us with relentless dross story lines suddenly do something with taste and sincerity? I was never a Deirdre fan myself but very much looking forward to Peter returning and would relish any quality drama between him and Ken. However, we are much more likely to get a gurning Tracey shoved down our throat using the funeral as an opportunity to fleece the guests or get off with Tony

No offence LouP but I think it is best to leave the moderating of the forum to me and the mods, Charley, Kitkat and WendyBee. Not every post is going to appeal to everyone and I set this forum up to have some banter and have a laugh.

That was why I asked who the moderators and admin are. I didn't know. I love banter btw, always have and I am certainly not a killjoy. Had a fantastic laugh on a previous Corrie only Forum , initially set up by ITV but which closed after they didn't want to administer it any more or maybe they didn't like the criticisms . I do, however, think everyone is missing my point and I won't labour it.

Agree completely CEFan, the reason this forum has grown so popular so quickly is because it's fun and relaxed, and the very reason those people are on here in the first place is because they were sick of the killjoys elsewhere! Not being able to have a laugh, banter and a joke is what's killed DS soap forums.....

I hear what you are all saying and I love banter generally otherwise the Forum can become rather sterile . Having said that I love to discuss the soaps and characters and what makes them tick , in depth I just find that much of the turning of posts into simply sexual content rather distasteful and unfunny. Perhaps I had better close the door behind me. Sorry. I seem to have upset people with these views. ( and I am not a prude, as I have said before) Don't do that Lou, you are as important on here as anybody else lovely. Nobody is upset, more just trying to explain that members are all very different people with different character traits, who will post a multitude of things. Not everybody will post things that always appeal to another, but it's all about having that tolerance to read and enjoy the things you like, and maybe skirting past those you don't. What one person finds funny, another will find tiresome. What another finds tiresome, somebody else will find interesting. It's the way of the world. Amongst it all is hopefully something for everybody. PS. The bacon is sizzling as I speak. That would be shame. We would loose something if you left. We are all different in our own way and have our favourtie soaps and I love this board because there is such a variety of viewes, with a good discussion about a particular episode and then something completely off the wall. something always makes me smile on here and brightens up my day.

Only an idea, on the EastEnders chat forum bit, Kitkat has started an episode thread, perhaps we could do that for the other soaps?

I do, however, think everyone is missing my point and I won't labour it. I do understand what you are saying, you would like some threads to be more 'serious' in discussing/debating/analysing the actual shows, yes? I think there are several of us that also enjoy that and threads like that will exist. There is nothing to stop people quoting the 'serious' post they are replying to to bring it back on track and as others have said, if some of the more humorous posts are not to your taste (and they won't be to everybodys) then I think it is best to just skim over them. We certainly don't want to be heavy handed about stopping people from making off topic remarks or jokes as sometimes things just come out, like making an off the cuff remark when conversing in a group of people in 'real life'. But we want everybody to comfortable and 'serious' dabate is something we welcome. Re the funeral istelf, i'm very glad Peter is returning, i did always think he would. I expect Bev to as well. I hope they do exercise real sensitivity and not go for some i'll advised 'tribute' like they did with Betty owning the rovers.

It is not the humorous posts that are not to my taste at all, as you say . I love humour, I love laughter . It is the sexual ones that I have a problem with which have quite a graphic content . I find them unnecessary and distasteful. There I have said it. There have been one or two unsavoury ones about the characters sex lives in detail and which have nothing to do with the thread in question and to be honest I don't find them funny and imo a Forum is not place for sex talk. Humour I love, banter I love , teasing I love, joshing I love but you are right , I should just ignore the more raunchy posts . I certainly don't want all the posts to be po-faced. That would be boring in the extreme . It is lovely to have a mix of serious and funny, thought provoking and teasing . I am not going to say any more on the subject. I have made my point too many times.

Believe it or not but I came on here talking about Deirdre and her funeral and certainly didn't want to get involved in this off topic debate but I feel compelled to say something. Surely there is room on this forum for all types of discussion and posts I regularly see and read things not to my taste but seem able to read those posts and pass over them to find something I do enjoy and want to get involved with. I'm sorry but the kind of criticism I'm reading on here reminds me of what I thought was a serious problem on DS ie talking about posters and not the show(s) we are all watching. I can't repeat enough, there is room for all sorts on here and long may that reign.

I have made my point too many times. The only trouble is that the sexual (and also violent) comments are actually examples of certain posters senses of humour - they're actually quite renowned for it and many enjoy their posting style. It is very much tongue in cheek. Now if they were about real people, actors or god forbid other members, it would be something that needed to be stopped. But when it is fictional characters I honestly don't see the harm as members are free to just ignore them. This board was very much set up with a view to not only tolerating but actually welcoming the political incorrect and the sexual joking that you mentions part of that. We don't want to lose members, everybody is welcome, especially those that do add something to the forum (which i think you do) and I think there is room for lots of different types of members, topics and 'tone' of posts
