So the statement from EE implied that nothing is going to change and they think they are doing a sterling job. A big Summer ahead ........... we will see.

I just want the BBC to care about the show again. You could tell Albert Square was modelled on Fassett Square , that was very interesting to compare the two.

I think PoV spent more time and money on producing that lovely segment filmed on location in Fasset Square than EE has spent all year on its production values.

When people moan about Corrie, ITV and the Corrie team say "Corrie has always been dramatic. Ernie Bishop's shooting is an example"

They always forget that a decade prior to Ernie’s demise the Street had seen a murder and latterly a suicide of the person responsible for that murder.
I think the issue most people have with soaps today is the relentless violence, depression and negativity. It doesn’t feel realistic for it to be so permanent. It’s like the real life is the one with rose tinted glasses!
The additional issue EE has is that Yorkie has tinkered so much that it does feel disjointed and storylines don’t line up.

I visited Fassett Square once and a day or 2 later I went to Elstree and walked round the perimeter of the EE set and visited the famous towerblock nearby. I could see the top of George St, The Vic, etc and I could see the car lot and Philth's house.

This goes some way to explain Peggy’s exit I reckon. Poor Babs. EastEnders star Barbara Windsor diagnosed with Alzheimer's www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44062921

Brilliant picture Holey Off-topic but it always amazes me when I see photos from the first half of the 80s and they look so dull (even taking the natural fading into account). I don't remember the 80s being that dull? Look at the clothes they're wearing - dull, dull and dreary! I'd have turned my nose up at any of the clobber that they're wearing in that photo!

Oh where I live the eighties were that dull, my mum used to buy me clothes pretty similar to what Ian is wearing in that photo lol, and my living room was brown, lots of brown furniture, would it surprise you that I can't abide brown stuff in the house now? I don't mind some real wood, but not too much of it, and no brown sofas ever again, or brown or brown and yellow wallpaper, I still have nightmares over my parents tastes in the eighties

There was a show about living in the 80s and they had the glam stuff, black glass dining table and chairs, black tv stand and in the kitchen a red plastic table and chairs. I want my house to look just like that!

That was when EastEnders was realistic and about the times we live in.

That was when EastEnders was realistic and about the times we live in. Precisely. That house had five adults living in it across three generations. When Lou raged about Pauline falling pregnant at 40, she was asking the same questions anyone else asked; where’s the money going to come from, where will it sleep? Etc By comparison Pete and Kathy were fairly well off. I seem to recall their flat being quite modern.

The house next to the car lot had war damage and was held up by supports and had piles of junk in the front yard, was boarded up. The Fowlers house was full of hand me downs and dour clothing. They all had hardly any money. There was soot and dirt in the square. Today characters could have five babies on a part time job and still afford a big house, and luxuries.
