Nice to see Phil's normal side as opposed to this endless King Phil nonsense.

Decent start to the week, good to have Jean and Patrick back. Christopher Fairbank as Eddie superb. Brilliant scenes in prison with George. I am liking Phil looking out for George. Not too interested in all this marathon stuff, but all in all a good episode.

I'm so glad that Jade saw the light about Dean. He never saw that one coming on the charge sheet.
I had to laugh at Jack giving The Six updates. 'Something might be happening soon'.
Eddie was odious in the prison scenes and ending the conversation with 'Boy' said it all.
Phil really cares about George so it's nice to see another side of his character.

I was actually feeling a teeny bit sorry for Eddie, him and Gloria had been married for 60 years and I believe he genuinely loved her and will feel the loss. But then when he turned on George knowing exactly what buttons to press to make him feel like an intimidated, doubtful little boy again the sympathy vanished and I loathed him. What an evil man. He'll die alone in prison without any loved ones and he deserves it. But what a brilliant actor.
Colin Salmon is sooo good. In that scene you could Eddie's words having the desired effect and him wondering if Gloria did love him after all - all without saying a word. He needs to cling onto the memory of her deathbed and how she ultimately stood by him and didn't even want buried with Eddie. But of course George has the final say as next of kin once Eddie dies and should burn the bugger and have him nowhere near his mum. The final revenge.
So Dean's been stitched up like a kipper and I love it. He's even been charged with his own crimes as well which was a nice added touch.
And I am so here for the evolution of Phil Mitchell into caring friend. Long may it continue.

Oh George what have you done? We always thought it would be on the cards but I'm putting it down to how low you are right now.
Please just get Whitney & Britney off our screens. I've had enough of this tripe. Like she is going to get the thief enrolled into Walford High?
'It's been a mad couple of months' says Denzel to Patrick. He doesn't know the half of it.
It's a 1 hour show tomorrow night and I'm not sure about that but will clock in once it's over.

Who could blame Cindy kissing George saddled with Ian. I thought Kellie Bright was a little off tonight unlike her as she is normally tip top, her crying was a little embarrassing and toe curling. A fairly decent episode. Nice scenes with Denise and Patrick and good scenes with Elaine and Patrick in the Vic. I agree Wallis re Whitney and Britney bugger off back to Milton Keynes and give us some peace.

Good episode tonight. Seems Pastor Clayton had a history of doing this.
I saw Tom Merrick/Tony Cairns from Emmerdale in tonight's episode.

I wasn't particularly looking forward to tonight's 1 hour episode but blow me it was a corker. The hour just seemed to go in no time from the gripping aftermath of the sexual abuse scene.
Russell T Davies has posted
EastEnders tonight, a truly brilliant and devastating episode. A powerhouse performance from Angela Wynter and the whole cast - faces old and new - showing how sexual abuse spans decades, unchallenged, unstoppable. The most clever, original and truthful storytelling I’ve seen in a long time, script by @kleelauren, directed by Lance Kneeshaw. Good old nightly TV is still a power in the land. All the applause.
I couldn't agree more and where does this go from here for Yolande.

Angela Wynter astounding tonight. I thought the episode was going to be all about Lucy but it was Yolande's story. EastEnders was on another level infact a level I have never seen any continuing drama before. I would stick my neck out and say that has to be the best episode of EastEnders and any soap I have ever seen. A very upsetting episode but so powerful and hard hitting. The flash backs worked very well. I wonder where this is going to go and end up? I understand now why this episode was 60 minutes, splitting it up would have lost impact. Bravo EastEnders, other soaps can look up and marvel. This will win some awards if there is any justice.

Hard hitting and totally believable and the awards should be forthcoming for tackling such an issue. Listen to us any of you naysayers who think EE is a pile of you know what. Stop complaining and watch some believable continuing drama.

I couldn't agree more and where does this go from here for Yolande. An old work colleague got spoken to at work for touching people, he did seem rougher with women than men though. As some female colleagues used to walk past him in the canteen this man would grab them by the arm quite roughly then try to chat them up a bit. And he would touch men on the face and arms as well, and would even embrace them, he did it to me a few times and another man who was more his age, and he got spoken to in the end. He did stop afterwards when he was told off, but heaven forbid the amount of times he did this when it was ureported, or whether he ever went further than just touching and grabbing people on the face and arms. He was 56 when he got spoken to and had worked for decades, so not a young man and old enough to have known better. I can related to Yolande for herself and for the women who was touched up a bit by this aforementioned guy at work, who was quite a big guy as well, he looked like a unit.

Just watched this late last night and was floored at how good it was. I've said it before about EE but that episode could have been a stand-alone drama e.g. the old Play for Today and I'd still have thought it was superb. So powerful.
Watching the Pastor eyeing Yolande like a animal stalking it's prey was so uncomfortable to watch and his timing ... Yolande was powerful, confident and in control running that charity event (she'd even stood up to his snotty wife) and he was going to bring her down, take away her confidence, take away her power and control. The immediate aftermath was cleverly done where they muffled the sound and vision but we could hear him happily talking into the mike as if nothing had happened.
It would have been nice if someone had noticed that the Yolande had changed and asked her if she was quite well? She did a 180 turn from how she was initially yet no one noticed? That's my only fly in the ointment with the episode.
It was also good seeing a more normal, sympathetic and less 'jazz hands' Elaine. Poor Yolande's face when she mentioned telling the church and the police, horrified and ashamed when she of course the shame is his and not hers.
Also very effective the way they showed his previous victims (and I bet that's not all of them) all being dismissed, even the ones who had the guts to go to the church and the police. Like one said, what's the point in telling us to come to the police when they don't do anything because of 'proof'. How on earth can there be outside proof? It's enabling rapists and abusers and allowing them to continue unabated.
10/10
Other stuff:
DNA is the obvious route Jay. You were her only client? Only got her word for that. If she's on the level she should understand. But if that's his baby I'll eat my hat. And I'm be fuming that she told Lexi. Raging. Tell her there'll be no going forward until she agrees to a DNA test and she keeps the hell away from his family.

I did find Billy and Phil funny tonight. Not sure the London Marathon scenes worked that well. Line of the night goes to Denise "don’t think Peter wants to see my pom poms”

I thought the Marathon scenes were seamless and EE should be proud of themselves. My only concern tonight was that the subtitles weren't working at the start of the episode and then they came on but were out of sync. Probably due to all the editing that they had to do overnight to slot the scenes in. Hopefully Lola has been put to rest now.
