I watched Call The Midwife yesterday afternoon and bawled my eyes out as per.
The ABC Murders last night was dark and gritty and I'm looking forward to tonight. I liked Sarah Phelps' take on Piorot being out of favour with Scotland Yard and a more lonely, older character.

I watched Torvill and Dean yesterday... Really enjoyed it...
It was very interesting to see their similar but different working class backgrounds... And the where the driving determination behind their skating came from, especially Chris... And one of those feel good moments at the end when they shown the actual footage of them dancing the Bolero...

One of my colleague's Mum used to work for Nottingham Police and can remember what a really lovely chap Chris was when he was a Police Officer.

It didn't show much of him in the police... One scene where he let a burglar go... Because it was close to his knocking off time and it would have impacted on his training...
It even suggested it was his first arrest... Because he asked the burglar how long it usually took to process nicking someone at the police station... I think it was at that point he decided he couldn't do both the job and the skating... One of them had to go...

Since Phil delivered a baby in Easties, people are trying to get Phil The Midwife commissioned.

So I will save it until tonight instead. Sarah Phelps is brilliant. In my opinion she is like a female version of Bevan Lee - who is like an Australian God to me.

The ABC Murders was cool, I'm not usually into these murder mysteris. John Malkovich plays a good Poirot, surprised the BBC were able to persuade a Hollywood hotshot like him to work on the project. Still prefer David Suchet's iconic incarnation of the character, though - not many actors could top his version of Poirot! But I can't find any faults in Malkovich's incarnation either. I'm predicting the ABC killer is a demented child like Bobby Beale off EastEnders who hated learning the alphabet at school... so he decided to become a serial killer and demonstrate his frustrations by killing his victims in alphabetical order!

I watched the first ABC murders and as a normal drama I'd have loved it, but as a Poirot I just couldn't take to it as, IMO, David Suchet is the iconic Poirot. However I'll watch the other two episodes and just pretend it's not Poirot!
Love the grittiness of it though.

I`m going to give it another go in a few minutes. What I saw of it I really liked. Maybe I shouldn't have watched it so late.

I read all of the Christie books as a teenager. I had a love, hate relationship with Piorot though as I found him to be a pompous, self absorbed character and Suchet played him in much the same vein. The ABC Murders was a stylish production and John Malkovich played him as a more humane character. Apparently his agent told him not to take the role but after reading the script he was sold on it. Thank you Sarah Phelps for making my Christmas complete.

I have seen several of the Suchet Poirot's and he does come across as quite high and mighty, and a bit aggressive.

The worst Christmas TV ever . I think 1993 was the worst ever when Carlton took over ITV from Thames and played films back to back on Christmas night. Lazy beggers. I may not like all the content but at least the BBC make an effort.

I am looking forward to the "The London Studios" Home of the stars tonight on ITV at 8:pm, the last of the big London TV studios to close, not as iconic as the BBC Television Centre in White City, but still a lot of history and good stories to tell. It was the old LWT studios.

Not seen the last episode of ABC murders yet. It is OK I found it a bit dark and dreary and Poirot spoke like the policeman in Allo Allo.
