Agreed Holey, I haven't seen this weeks yet but I was gobsmacked last week at Missy dying. Used to really like that daft mare. Would have appreciated her more in the 'Oxford' episode had I known. Lovely scene with the lanterns near the end after all the in-fighting between the kids though. I was also surprised but delighted to see Rob James-Collier turn up as a teacher. Some nice scenery for Lotty

Anyone watched Mum? I've just watched the 3 series over the last few weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lesley Manville and Peter Mullan were brilliant in this as were Lisa McGrillis and Dorothy Atkinson as Kelly and Pauline. It's worth a watch on iPlayer.

Yes seen all three series of Mum Another enjoyable little programme. Nothing happens but everything happens if you get what I mean? I won't say more in case someone reading is tempted to watch but agree with your assessment Walls, fab performances. I know she's as daft as a brush, and has absolutely no tact, but as the series progressed I ended up feeling a lot of affection for Kelly. And the Peter Mullan character, what a lovely and patient man. A great example of understated acting, getting every single meaningful thought across without saying (or barely saying) a word. But when he did talk? Wow! 'Mum' was good herself but for me the programme was made by the supporting characters, each one a gem in their own way. Fantastic ensemble of characters was well as actors. In some ways it's a shame there's no more but at the same time I'm glad that they've known when to stop.

“ I fell asleep with my head on your shoulder”: Did you enjoy it Loup? I watched it off the back of Lesley Manville winning a Bafta and so glad I did.

“ I fell asleep with my head on your shoulder”: Did you enjoy it Loup? I watched it off the back of Lesley Manville winning a Bafta and so glad I did. Loved it. A slice of life. Lotty said it..... “nothing happens but everything happens.” Fabulous characters, brilliantly played.Loved the scenes where the girlfriend was not telling everyone she was pregnant and it was so obvious......on antibiotics , that is why she couldn’t drink and was feeling sick. She plays it brilliantly. In fact, all the characters are wonderful. The sister in law is fantastic as the ultimate social climber and Mum’s chap is just so down to earth in contrast. Brilliant character studies. Mum is so sweet and long suffering until she told her snobby sister in law to “F*** Off. Hilarious and so out of character.

Peter Mullan is a wonderful actor and film maker. Did you not want to pick up all those plates and cups and throw them in the dishwasher. My mild OCD would have taken over! Pauline was hilarious and so well played.

Please, please will someone save my sanity. You all know I am the grammar police and the title of this thread really does my head in. It should be....
UK TV - Bits and Bobs. No apostrophes . No apostrophes, they are the bane of my life so could someone change it, just for me, pretty please.

The new series of Ackley Bridge is proving very good again and so much better than the watered down Waterloo Road. Jo Joyner is good in everything she does and we have good old Val Pollard in this series as a lazy gobby good for nothing teacher. Kaneez Paracha (Zoe from Casualty) played by the brilliant Sunetra Sarker is my favourite character. It was a shock when Missy died. You have convinced me Holez luv. Gonna go on the lookout for AB from the beginning. I loved Waterloo Bridge when it first started. But when Izzy was stabbed, the other eps kinda went downhill after that.

My goodness, I remember that so well. Me and my family were watching a mini series called 'Studs Lonigan' at the time, and were really ticked off that we didn't get to watch it all before the screen went blank. As far as I recall, itv never did show the rest of the miniseries when the strike was over. Bunch of meanies!!!
